  1. How long have you been using it? On mine, it took forever to update from the previous owner's location to mine. I think it had something to do with the large distance between the two areas. I haven't specifically read this related to the D3, but in most GPS units the software assumes that, when acquiring a signal, you are near the last known location of the unit. If you are not (eg, more than 150 miles distant from last known location), the unit requires much longer to "find" your current location. During this time, the unit is sifting through the data streams received from the GPS satell
  2. same here -- the passport did not work for me. anything with 3.0+ firmware doesn't charge with the pioneer cable.
  3. I just did a similar install using all PAC modules. You will need the steering wheel module, the chime module and the basic wiring harness module. Amazon had the best pricing on these a couple of weeks ago.
  4. For those who haven't figured this out, the mute wire from a D3 is needed to perform muting of the OnStar system. Most wiring adapters use a work around that actually powers off the unit when OnStar is activiated if the mute wire is not hooked up. If you want to truly mute OnStar without turning the unit off, you need to do the following: 1-Do not move the mute wire as instructed in the bypass 2-Purchase a DEI antenna on eBay (<$10) which contains 6 pins identical to those used in the D3 wiring harness. 3-Use the new pin to perform the bypass instead of moving the mute wire. 4-Conn
  5. I know this is an old topic, but for those looking for replacement pins or wires for the bypass, get a DEI antenna wire from eBay (<$10) and you have access to 6 replacements. I saw it on another post and wanted to pass it on.
  6. The bypass allows the VSS wire to be hooked up and read normally without locking out the system (Nav, Phone, Video) when in motion. So, yes, you should hook up your VSS and be getting a speed pulse even with the bypass done. The VSS will give you much better NAV results. Search the forum for the location of your VSS depending on your year, make and model of vehicle.
