    Day/Night mode

Setting the map color change between day and night To improve the visibility of the map during the evening, you can set the timing for changing the combination of the map color. 1 Display the “Map” screen. 2 Touch [Day/Night Display]. Each time you touch the key changes that setting. ! [Automatic] (default): You can change the colors of a map between daytime and nighttime according to whether the vehicle lights are On or Off. ! [Day]: The map is always displayed with daytime colors. p To use this function with [Automatic], the Orange/white lead of the navigation system must be
  2. Yes, even the 1.003 firmware the nav will occasionally go into "airplane mode" and have you fly over fields and lakes a mile or two from where you really are. Eventually it usually corrects itself, but the logic it's using kind of escapes me. What's odd is that the compass shows north correctly, and the direction and speed of travel is matched perfectly, just the location is off. It seems the GPS has some signal but there is a bug in locking into a specific location perhaps a little too quickly, and once it does, is reluctant to second guess and correct itself. I've not seen a GPS with a weak
  3. This is mainly from memory, so don't hold me to it... Regarding using a plain USB memory drive, I believe playback starts at point of shutdown. It seems to load the file folder structure reasonably fast, but I have not tried it with more than a few hundred MB so far. The unit will show the folder structure on 3 or 4 lines (top half of the screen) and you navigate folder to folder using up/down toggle on the knob. Move into/out of a folder using left/right toggle on the knob. Play song by pressing center of knob (or right toggle which is a bit easier). Very basic but functional. I think

    U310BT Opinion

My goal in buying the U310BT was to buy the most cost effective in-dash audio system that had GPS, BT, and USB features. My factory audio system sounded fine to me, but without MP3 disk or USB functionality it was getting to be a pain to add music (tired of burning compilation CDs). Also, with new laws in my area about requiring hands free phones, and getting a bit tired of hauling out my ancient portable GPS I decided to get something built in to handle it all without spending too much. This was actually the 2nd cheapest "all in one unit" I could find. The cheapest, an Eclipse unit, had so ma
  5. The track log is the recording of which roads you've driven from unit startup to shutdown. It does save as a file to an SD card so if there is no place to create the file at startup you'll get an error. Speaking of track logs, does anybody know if it is possible to view these logs on Google Earth instead of the AVIC-Feeds program?
  6. Sounds like an interesting ride, iPod playing music, passengers talking away, and the Nav lady screaming out RIGHT TURN AHEAD.
  7. I had a hard time getting the radio into "initial settings" mode after the radio was on for a while (after a drive). I had to turn the key off and on again and try changing settings right away. I don't know if there is a time limit to doing this, or if something was just gone a bit flaky that 1 time I tried it. The 2 or 3 times I've played with "initial settings" have always been right after power up and it worked just fine in those cases.
  8. Yes, if you have a manual look on page 105. You have choice of fade (attenuate) or mute. If you're not the RTFM type, this is how: Hold the off button until the radio is off. Press and hold the center of the knob until the radio goes into "Initial Settings" mode. Turn knob until "Guidance" is displayed Press knob to select between "Normal", "ATT" (fade), or "mute".
