    New radios?

I am getting another AVIC for my other vehicle after Christmas time sometime, likely February or March. I was wondering if there was any news on new radios or another updated unit by then? When does Pioneer usually release new radios? I have a 110 now and wouldn't mind a 130 but would rather have something new and different.
  2. Once the vehicle starts moving there should be voltage on it IIRC.
  3. Ok Mustangs 05+ use the Output Shaft Speed sensor(OSS) from the transmission to the PCM and then the VSS is a network item. So you can tie into the OSS signal at the PCM. It is going to be pin #3 on the transmission harness at the PCM connector. It will be dark blue with yellow tracer. I attached a picture of the connector you need. Hope this helps.
  4. Ok I stand corrected, Mustangs are dumb. Pin 14 in the radio harness is the VSS on Fords with the 24 pin radios. I looked in the 05 up shop manuals and they use the network for VSS signal for the factory radio. I am trying to find the VSS wire for your car and will post back when I find it.
  5. And they took away the volts reading in the headunit from the z110. For a vehicle with out a factory gauge this was a nice feature.
  6. Why not use the VSS that is in the factory radio harness? Ford has had a VSS signal in almost all their radios since 2000ish.
  7. Well the firmware update went fine this time. Not sure why or what cause the first one to go nuts but it did.
  8. I did finally get the card out. I don't remember exactly what I did to get it to tilt the face. I got it out and reformatted the card and retried. Now the unit does not try to update at all. I am about to go give it another try after re-downloading the file.
  9. I did all my updates and was running the z120 update on my z110. I got the idea to try the 2.003 update since I seen it was ok to do and went smooth for everyone else. Well mine didn't go smooth and I can't get the unit under control. It started the update as soon as I inserted the card but it only gets like 3 seconds in and says update failed, restarting unit. It then restarts and the splash screen still comes up and it starts to play music then it tries the update process again. I can not get the unit to eject the card so it will stop and I can not get the update to work. So is there a way t
  10. I think you can get the plugs at Radio Shack or any other major electronics store since it is just a 4 pin molex connector. If you have problems then worry about the filter.
  11. I don't know about other makes but Fords will not come back on if the problem is fixed. The airbag light only comes on if it has a hard fault. I have been guilty of leaving the passenger air bag indicator unplugged a ton of F150s when doing radio swaps and other items that require the trim around the radio removed. What kind of warranty does the Santa Fe's have on them? It might still be under warranty also if it doesn't have a ton of miles on it.
  12. Do you have anyway of checking the codes to see what the air bag light is on for? If so that will help a ton.
  13. Never worked on a Hyundai but is their any airbag lights or switches that are in the dash that you could have left unplugged when you were doing the radio swap? On the speedo you could try unhooking the speed signal wire from the radio and see if the speedo works right. Maybe you got the wrong wire and its killing the vehicle speed signal?
  14. Here is a connector view of the factory radio harness. I always tie my add on radio stuff like sirius, xm and what ever else not into the harness between the radio and the metra adapter. That way when I remove it from the car and into the next it all stays together. The wires for Ford are standard on all the 24pin radios. Some have other features and use more pins than others but all the pins are standard.
  15. After a couple months a 2500ish miles mine still was not learned all the way. I have mine connected to the vss in my factory radio harness. What kind of vehicle do you have? I bet your factory radio harness has a vss wire in it.
