  1. The 920BT will play mp4, it is one of the supported formats. I know there are people saying that the manual is wrong, that it only plays divx or avi or , but that isn't true. I have a bunch of movies that I ripped using DVD Decrypter, then used DVD Shrink to pull out the extraneous stuff, then encoded into m4v/mp4 format using Handbrake with the iPhone/iPod Touch preset. A little more than half of them play perfectly from the microSD card and USB thumb drive. I don't know why the others won't play, but it must be something in the encoding settings, I just haven't had time to play wit
  2. I did it. Followed the instructions and it went off without a hitch. Worked like a champ.
  3. I just went and tried it again. Worked like a champ this time. I plugged and unplugged it repeatedly and it came up charging every time I plugged it in. No idea what I did differently the 1st time, sorry for the false alarm.
  4. Just got my new iPhone 4 today, and after getting it activated and synced up in iTunes, I took it out to the car to pair it with my X920BT. Paired OK. Hands free phone, BT audio and regular iPod music plays just fine. The only thing I noticed was that the phone wasn't charging. Pretty sure that my 3G did charge when connected. This was with a Pioneer CD-IU50V cable, BTW. Anyone else?
  5. An iPod/iPhone is more than just storage space (i.e. a HDD). It has RAM, a CPU and an operating system, and the "iPod software" is pretty much the OS + native applications that run on that hardware. A HDD/thumb drive/SD card is just storage space, it doesn't "run" anything the way you're thinking of. What you and the OP are asking for is an application running on the Nav unit or, more likely, a change to the nav unit software that would read the contents of the thumb drive and display everything as though it were coming from an iPod. You'd have to get Pioneer to do that. It isn't som
  6. Yeah, that is irritating the crap out of me as well. I tried changing the sort order on my iPhone, but that didn't help either.
  7. The thing that gets me about making VR phone calls is that I have to say the last name first. "Call Joe Blow, Cell" doesn't work, but "Call Blow, Joe, Cell" does. Maybe it's the way I structured my iPhone contacts, but I don't think so. Unless you just use first names on the iPhone I don't see any way around this.
  8. I bought a 16GB SanDisk microSD card and it works like a champ on my X920BT.
  9. Here's the D2 installation manual. Look at page 7: http://pioneerelectronics.com/pio/pe/im ... Manual.pdf Compare the D2 connectors to the X920BT connectors on page 11 of the X920BT installation manual: http://pioneerelectronics.com/StaticFil ... al0129.pdf They don't look anything alike to me.
  10. Did you use the Pioneer cable with both the USB and minijack connections? You need to use that cable to play video from the iPod/iPhone.
  11. haha, ok... OK, here are some crappy iPhone pics... Camera installed on the rear bumper: http://www.getthefrakout.net/gt500/back ... G_0161.JPG Sorry about the glare, but my car is in a dim garage and there is a lot of glare off of my wife's Fusion.
  12. I finished the Pioneer ND-BC4 backup camera install today. Ran the wiring down the passenger side into the trunk. Pulling the interior panels and rear seat cushion was cake, much easier than I'd feared it would be. I initially mounted the camera in place of the key lock, but it's a wide angle camera and looking out through the key hole was like looking through a porthole, could only see a small area directly behind the center of the car. Ended up running the camera out through a grommet in the bottom of the trunk, up behind the bumper fascia and out through the opening for the license plat
  13. Initially I had the GPS antenna sitting on top of the head unit, and I pretty much got 0 bars of reception. Nav worked, but I rarely got more than 4 satellites. Spent some time today moving the GPS antenna to the top of an AC duct, just under the top of the dash. I used the metal stick-on plate as a base for the antenna. 2 bars of reception out of 3 now, and had 8 satellites right away. Much better. The nav display seems kind of laggy though, unless I'm driving really slowly the display has me ~ 30-50 feet behind my actual position. I guess I can live with that.
  14. Yeah. This does seem to be a common issue. Oh well, it isn't like I'm going to be watching movies very often (if ever). Thanks!
  15. Hi all, ordered my X920BT last week and installed it this weekend. Lurked for a week or so without registering before ordering the unit trying to decide on which head unit to go with. AVIC411 was a big help to me in deciding which way to go and how to get it installed properly. Thanks! OK, so I have a 2009 Mustang GT500 coupe with factory nav. I was perfectly happy with it until my wife got a new Fusion Sport with Sync, and after playing with that system for awhile I had to have blue tooth and media capability (USB/iPhone). Sync is available as a retrofit kit for the 2009 Mustang, but
