  1. At least with the AVIC-Z1*0B* units you would get firmware updates included when you bought the map updates. It helped me to rationalize the map purchase price.
  2. I've never seen this before. But "Version Error" would lead me to doublecheck firmware revision levels both on what is already installed on the unit and what you're trying to install. What firmware revision is your unit currently at, using the first two pages of this document as reference: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/StaticFiles/PUSA/Car_Electronics/Firmware%20Update%20Files/AVICSYNC/14AVN_FW_Update%20Instructions_16G.pdf
  3. Keep clicking into the downloaded zip file until you get to the folder labeled "AVIC5000NEX". That is the folder you want to put on your SD card. Make sure there is nothing else on the card prior to putting the folder on it. (I always go so far as to reformat the SD Card just to be sure.) And I recommend using an SD Card instead of USB stick.
  4. Once you get to your destination, you've got to press the little "Checkered Flag" button on the display. Then it asks you to confirm that you've reached your destination, which requires you to press a green bar that looks similar to the "Start Navigation" button. THEN you're done. It took me a while as well to figure out that driving to the destination wasn't enough.
  5. Yeah, that ETA forecast can be pretty horrible. There have been a number of times that I looked at it, did the math in my head, and went, "Huh?!?"
  6. I think that you may be on to something. Just toggling one of the voice alerts to On while still in the "Settings" section was enough to switch sources.
  7. ^This. Plus it has access to internet shows / stations that aren't terrestrial at all. MUCH more content.
  8. Okay, I take that back. It happened again to me on a Ka warning that I got last night even with everything set to "Off" per mapotter99's advice. I'm done. CarPlay is disabled on my unit until further notice.
  9. I played with it a little bit this morning. It worked, but that's about all that I can say. I was on the road, so I didn't take the time to log into my account. I spend a lot more time with Tune-In. If Tune-In revised their app to be CarPlay friendly, I'd pay much more attention.
  10. No difference with 1.08 as compared to 1.06. I ended up using the workaround that mapotter99 suggested. Even then, I had to set the alert settings for each type of warning to "Off", as well as pair the detector to the app in the car and then set Radar Detector Tones to "Off" as well.
  11. I'm sorry to hear that others are experiencing the same problem; but I'm glad to know that I'm not alone. I just went in and made the suggested "Settings" changes. That sounds like a good workaround. Thanks for the input, folks!
  12. I haven't seen this posted in the two weeks or so that Firmware 1.06 / CarPlay has been out, so I thought that I'd share. On the two prior Pioneer head units that I've had, as well as the 8000NEX before the Firmware 1.06 update, you would hear a loud and distinct "BEEP BEEP" when the Escort Live app received an alert and the source on the Pioneer head unit was set to iPod/USB. You wouldn't hear the "BEEP BEEP" if the head unit was set to a different source like Sirius XM or Pandora; but that was okay because you could still receive an audible alert from the radar detector. You would also
  13. You were close. Instead, any mention of CarPlay has just been pulled off of the splash page for Pioneer U. S. A.'s website. "Whomp-whomp". I'm having more and more respect for Alpine's "play it close to the vest" form of risk mitigation regarding CarPlay.
  14. Seems to me to be more an indictment of TrueTraffic than anything. Pioneer only reports the data that TrueTraffic supplies. I had the same thoughts that you did concerning traffic data with my upgraded Z120 / traffic tuner; so I wasn't entirely surprised to see the same results on the 8000NEX since they both use TrueTraffic. This topic is the ONLY thing that has me interested in AVICSync when/if it is released. I hope its traffic data would be more real time than what TrueTraffic provides.
