Yeah but I'm not upgraded to 4.6 , so I'm asking you if you upgraded to 4.6 with out any problems ? You just downloaded the update for the z140 and installed it on your z130? <<<Is this correct?

So for your z130 you downloaded the z140 update, installed it, and everything worked fine ? If so I'll try it when u get my truck out if the shop

I am done with pioneer as well! I don't think spending that much money for something I have update every year and even the updates aren't updated. I think I'll be installing an iPad mini as my head unit. It may not have the features a real HU has but all I need it to do is work, when I need it to work , and how I need it to work, not just say well the gps got me where I was going even though I went 2 hours out of the way , as I did on a trip last year.

I contacted navteq about the maps. And shat the sent was a link to just the maps minus the update. They said even though it says z140, that it will work for z130. Not sure on anything less.

Has anyone heard if the z130 will be getting an iphone 5 update? Heaven forbid I spend $400 on a new phone and not $800 on a new HU too so that they will work together!

And this is why I'll be finding a different unit other than pioneer as my next HU. It seems pioneer cares about there customers until the next unit comes out. My next HU will be iphone operated with internet compatibility. My last update from pioneer still didn't include a new road by my house that had been there almost a year. That's just what I need when I pull my camper 20 miles out of the way because my HU didn't know it was there.

Honestly I think pioneer is done with the old and stuck on the new. Even though they are so similar they see no need in updating an old product. My next unit will be based on updatable content and not so much the options it comes with. I wish apple would make a unit for us, or I may just use an iPad mini.

I emailed asking pioneer if this would work because I do have the upgraded z130. They said no. Is this a ploy to buy a new unit or do they just not know what there doing?

I guess no one knows?

I've read a few posts about this or getting around to this but never got a real answer. I've also contacted Pioneer and they said no. But I swear I've seen where someone did this or said it would work. I just want a truthful yes or no because of trial and error. BUT will this work, A z130 with updated z140 maps and firmware be updated with the 4.6 or 5.1 updates? Hopefully this will save me from bricking my unit.

I had this problem a few months ago. We were going camping towing a 34' camper with a diesel excursion. 4 people 1 dog and the other 3 couples were already there waiting on us. I programmed it in and it said it would take 5 hours. But it's only a 3 hour trip. So I'm thinking it normally catches up time as you drive NOPE. It took us 5+ hours on fastest route, 2 hours out of the way. And coming back leaving the camp ground it took us the 3 hour route. It's amazing how this crappy system works. But then when we pull out the iphone it will take us a different way or to a totally different place. G

Yes please someone try this! I have a 130 upgraded and am scared to try it!

I'm in the same situation and was wondering the same. I'm sure pioneer doesn't care about our old units and wants us to upgrade to new units. I pray it will work, just need a guinea pig.
