  1. I have a post on here somewhere about videos on my X950BH model and what software I use and the settings for the video size, frame rate, etc. I use Handbrake and make different versions and then save the one that works as a template to use over and over. I did find that there were differences in my X940 and X950 so I would imagine some testing will be in order to find out what works. For example, my X940 would do some on the fly changes to screen resolution where the X950 wanted the video to be exact?
  2. I had to install two adapter units when I put the X950BH unit in my Chevy HHR. One was for adapting to the car's "LAN" electrical system and the other was for the steering wheel controls. I deal with a pretty good stereo shop locally since I did not want to try and figure out which little boxes were the best ones. So far with two Pioneer units they have been great so I would suggest trying to find a local shop that knows the X950BH units and get their advice.
  3. Did you connect the cables as per pages 14 and 15 in the manual? With mine, in my Chevy HHR, I used an adapter and hooked the front speakers and rear speakers as per the manual but the rear preamp got hooked through the adapter box. I did not do that initially and did not get any sound?
  4. My X950BH has some speaker whine now and then and I think it is from the car's electrical system? Happens only once a month or less but usually when it is raining and since I am in So Cal that is not too bad. Anyways with yours does it make the noise when the key is on and engine off and the splash screen showing? Or does it happen only with engine running? If it is engine off it could be electrical interference from wires that have gotten wrapped around speaker wires or a unit problem. Did you have to install an adapter to mate with the car's electrical computer and that could be the issue al
  5. Don't feel too bad! I have about 200 videos on a USB solid state drive and some times certain ones will play and a week later, the same one will not. I think it has to do with the memory in the head unit and I did call their tech support and the gut was not real sure what memory was! I would suggest opening the files in Handbrake again and see if anything is different? I always save time to a local disk drive, delete the ones on the solid state drive and then do a copy.
  6. I have a X950BH model, not the same as yours of course but when I bought it I asked about using a blue tooth or wireless mic and the owner of the shop told me they don't generally work. I was not crazy about having to run additional wires around in the dash but he said the "wired" mic came with the unit for a good reason.....it always worked!
  7. There is a video either here or on You Tube that shows how to pull a connector apart. There is usually a small tab sticking up that prevents the wire from coming out the back and that needs to be pushed down. I have several sets of jeweler's screw drivers and one will fit in beside the wire and then compress the tab. If you use a magnifying glass you can see where it is and then just pull it out.
  8. Did the problem just start or have you had it the whole time? If it just started, what has changed with the head unit? Did you just put the unit in and if so is it a new unit and everything came out of the box? If it just started and nothing has changed, the sensor antenna may have failed?
  9. My wife's 2003 Caddy DTS has a similar weird thing when setting the clock. What I finally did was to start the time setting procedure about a minute before the hour I wanted and then when the large jumps in time hit the right hour I stopped and it would be right on. Not the best but that works for me.
  10. The augmentation or map updates seem to be a feature of this model although I could not find any info in the user manual or on Pioneer's website. I do remember the guy at the stereo shop where I bought it said the maps would do this and I didn't give it any thought until recently. I imagine the stereo pros must have some source of information us normal folks do not?
  11. This may sound strange but here in southern California, my x950 model seems to update the maps when something new is found. As an example, the other day I found that two new streets had been finally added to a housing development a couple miles south of me and when on a trip to Walmart they had showed up when a week or so earlier they were not there on my map. On major streets or highways (freeways) where traffic sensors have started to work, they now show up on my GPS screen. It is sort of nice to see the freeway lane on the other side turn red when you see their traffic slowing to a stop!
  12. Every GPS I have owned had the roads that you could view set by the software and was not changeable by the user. This was true even for the map on my iPhone and the one in my X950BH head unit. There seems to be a wide view area with few streets and then at some zoom in level lots of them show up with few names and zoom in further and the names show but with less streets on the screen.
  13. With my X940BT I had no issues at all. When I bought a X950BH in my latest car I found the same thing as you did but on a thumb drive. I cured most of the issues by using very short directory names and one level from the root, no spaces and only numbers and characters in the names. I had to do the same for many of the MP3 music and video files and generally found they all would work easily. It is a pain to do but now I have the thumb drive pretty loaded to what I want I have about 6 months to get through all of them!
  14. On many models, such as my X950BH you have an information bar at the bottom of the navigation screen that can show the song playing or the street information. With mine I can play videos, MP3 songs or the radio and switch between screens easily.
  15. Hummm, I did not have to do any upgrades to my X950BH unit, but then I rarely do these. I followed the instructions in the App Radio users manual I downloaded from Pioneer and it works fine. I had also done the bypass and such as there are mentions in the App Radio manual about things not working when the e-brake is off and/or the brakes are not set? I don't use it much as I play everything off of a USB thumb drive (3500 MP3s and 150 videos). You mentioned not working, any error or other messages?
