  1. If you're going to add a 4channel amp.... you have to upgrade the speakers.... I know your truck inside an out - have done serisouly 100's of installs on them since they came out in 2000.... even though they are bose speakers - they're still paper speakers - nothing high quality - trust me.... If you want good speakers with a good price - look at the Polk DB's or the Pioneer PRS / D series - they're very well priced take only about 50-75 watts... so you don't need an $$$ amp and the sound quality is amazing. If you add a sub to your factory system you'll be perfectly happy with what y
  2. Good call on the OS4... completely forgot about that... but is it worth the extra money - when the reverse & vss wires are behind the instrument cluster less than a foot away held by four screws..... Your factory amp is located inside your center console - if you do a forum search for your truck you'll see guys' instructions on how to take it apart - its pretty simple... but keeping the stock system wouldn't be horrible sound, considering your PIONEER has a built in EQ and crossover systems so if you're adding subs - your mids/highs will only play mids/highs and the lows/bass will go d
  3. Well, the reason your your speaker sound horrible is because you bypassed the amps... Reason: The bose speakers are known to have a 1 or 2 ohm impedance .... your pioneer is designed for 4ohms or higher. Your speaks run individually off of the stock amp - the stock amp has built in cross-overs unless your tweeters run in parallel off your door speakers, but probably not. So you would need to add some crossovers (same ones they use for components) to run your stock bose speakers but your impedance is still too low for the mid / woofer. When your installer bypassed the amps
  4. Chad, Hey buddy... try to do some reading on factory interfaces to bose systems and into cars. Check out PAC Audio. You'll need the following parts exactly as written below: PAC OS3-BOSE PAC SWI-PS Metra Dash Kit 95-3305 Everything will be pretty much plug and play minus the programming of your SWI-PS .... but that's easy and you can also custom program your steering wheel buttons to do other commands !!!!! Your VSS wire is behind your instrument cluster that comes out with 4 screws.... very easy and you can stick your GPS antenna under your dash, just under the winshe
  5. Dude.... you have a MAC .... i'm sure you know what BootCamp or Parallels is ???? you can run windows flawlessly on your MAC !!!!!
  6. What kind of car do you have ???? if you have a bose - you most likely need some sort of lower voltage converter to integrate into your car. I've done 1000's of installes with factory bose and all kinds of factory systems and never had a problem.... hate to be rude, but " you've played with it for a week and can't get it to sound good " just seems like you haven't done any research on your car and your installer doesn't keep up with adaptors on the market for factory OEM conversions. Give us some more details on the year / model / what type of stock radio you replaced (what was it / what
  7. I would purchase the PAC interface - try picking one up on ebay..... i'm sure it will be much less. DO NOT USE A TEST LIGHT - the new GM vehicles use a data system and most test lights can send voltage back through the circuit and you can have Thousdand of dollars in damage - always use a good quality multimeter - its worth spending $30-50 on a good meter than having a $1000.00+ bill from your dealer to replace the BCU for your car/truck. Also - you don't have an ACCESSORY (red) wire in the factory harness. Also - if you truck gives off a warning beep or door chim - when you remove th
  8. Hi, I'm upgrading from my AVIC-Z3 to the new AVIC-Z110BT and I have a GPS antenna question. I currently have my AVIC-Z3 intalled with its GPS anetanna - the Grey Connector and I know the F Series and the new Z110bt has the Green Connector for the GPS Antenna. I don't want to have to re-install the GPS antenna because its in a foreign car and its a huge pain and will take me at least an hour. Now, i'm installed some F700 and F900 for friends and since I had the green connector antanna, I got to see them. I also have a spare Pioneer GPS Antenna with the grey connecor. Now here's
  9. noxguy83, yes I know there will be a keygen... but in purchasing the update - do you think i can make an image of each SD Card... copy it to another SD Card and change something in the SD Card that will allow it to be used multiple times? Is it worth me buying it and possibly uploading the images to you guys to figure out a way to remove the "keygen" for the update... and then you guys will have access to a clean update copy?
  10. I just pre-purchased a COPY of the v3.0 update from Pioneer's site - they have a SALE on it for $60 currently on their website !!!!! I know its hasn't been released but I own two F700bt's.... and I only purcahsed one set of maps. Do you think I will be able to install the maps on both units or will the AVIC write back to the two SD Cards and make them inoperable so I won't be able to install it in my second F700bt ??? Any help would be amazing .... even though it hasn't been released just yet. Thank you for any help !!!! If you guys have install questions - feel free to ask- I'

    KeyGen

Has anyone come up with or found a Key Gen for the new software for the Z1-Z2 ??? I have two Avic Z1 units, one in my work truck and one in my personal car.... why should I pay for two update disks....?
  13. Hey guys... i know i'm new but i've been install navigation units when people didn't know there was such a thing like GPS..... I'm good "phone friends" with a Tech at Pioneer's Dealer Tech Support. I work in the install/sales industry and I have some news. This will happen, but Pioneer is not sure but aiming for the first week of October. There will be a FirmWare Update to correct the "gain" level when the ND-BT1 makes connection with the phone. The feedback problem is mostly happening to Motorola Phones and some others, but this firmware will supposedly fix the problem with the bad
