  1. The only way to get around it, is to do it correctly. I know it may sound obtuse, to some degree, but the simple fact is that something (grounding, pin change, etc.) is not correct. I've heard this at least a hundred times since I posted the instructions on the 110 bypass. There have been numerous folks that have argued up and down and all around that their installation was perfect, and that it measures this or that on the multimeter, so it just must be something else. However, in every instance they went back, followed the instructions closely and really scrutinized their work, and vio
  2. Haha...no big, bro! It does have a Cayman focus for sure, but it has a lot of good resources I found, for the PCM / BOSE wiring, etc., which is common between the Cayman and our 911s. I put a lot of the same info on RennTech too: http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.ph ... ntry149916 and http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.ph ... ntry151030 I need to post on 6Speed and RennTech fully, but I just haven't gotten around to it. After figuring out the bypass for the Z110BT and posting that on here, I finished my installation and got a little lazy. BTW, PP has a good a
  3. Umm, because we're talking about a Porsche installation, and I don't want to retype / repost / reupload all that here dude. Don't have the time or the inclination. Join their board, and read the information I, and others have posted regarding Porsche installs of AVIC systems, or don't. Either way, makes no difference to me.
  4. That installation does sound a bit icky. If you look at the kit on the manufacturers homepage it does looks like there's some hardware included for mounting the cage. Didn't you get those parts or were they just not good enough? http://www.connects2.co.uk/c2prodpic.as ... 23PO03.jpg No, you get everything pictured for sure. The two copper colored bits, and the other two pieces above them with the 8 holes, are what mount onto the sides of the AVIC. This slides into the 2din cage, and locks in place perfectly. The two skinny pieces between the pieces are used to "unlock" the HU
  5. Yes, I did have the BOSE (blows) system. And everything I used will work in your Cayman. Check out the link to the article I posted earlier. There is also an article on there that deals with the Cayman wiring, exactly and how to access everything you need. In respect to the reverse & illumination wires, it is easier to access those in the 987 than the 997. The subwoofer is in a different place too, but pretty much everything else is the same. And, ignore what anyone on the Porsche boards may say, because you CAN use the BOSE speakers, and strip out the BOSE amp & Porsche HU
  6. Well, I don't know what color the 996 is, fascia-wise. If it is black, then it will probably be fine. All I can say, is that the OE Porsche finish (Volcano Grey) in the 997 is most definitely NOT a PERFECT match to the EuroMotorSpeed unit. It looks great in the pictures, but I can assure you, having purchased one, it is NOT close to the pictures. It is in fact, several shades off. It was just not good enough for me, and certainly not good enough to put in my car...but I'm very picky. Having purchased it, I was about to scrap the whole project until I found the other unit, and bough
  7. The fit, and color, are absolutely perfect. Be warned though, that installing the double din cage will take a bit more work than the EuroMotorspeed deal. I wrote about it, in detail here: http://www.planetporsche.net/997-electr ... 997-a.html Have fun! -B-
  8. No, I bought the one from them, but ended up sending it back. The color is not a perfect match from Euro, and I did not like the fact that the unit was not centered vertically in their bezel (the bezel is larger above the HU than below it substantially). I purchased the bezel from Nexxia Audio Solutions in the UK, and had is shipped over here. Their cost, for bezel and shipping was about $75, and you can get the antenna adapter from Crutchfield for $20. Here's a link: http://www.nexxia.co.uk/Car_Stereo_fitt ... orsche.htm Thanks, -B-
  9. You just need to click on it, to get the larger view. Then do save as, and it will save at the correct size. Just checked it, and it works fine. -B-
  10. not sure what you mean here - you can create playlists and use them as you would with the iPod - however, the interface is exactly the same as the ipods. Along the top are the rest of the tabs ie artist, album and genre - for some reason my pics are chopped off on this site - here could be better http://www.tt-forum.co.uk/forum/viewtop ... 5#p1509280 Vehicle dynamics are gone, but I never used 'em anyhow, so I don't really care. The Z110 does have a gyro, and all the same sort of stuff that the D3 had, so they may add it to the software in the future. -B-
  11. Here it is...and it is 3240 x 1944. Thanks, -B-
  12. I can answer for this one ,800x480 Yeah, that is the actual pixel size of the screen, but that isn't the size for the splash screen. I tried that, and it made the image small, and centered on the screen with black bars around both the top and bottom. Unless there is some sort of strectch mode that I don't know about, that definitely didn't work for me--not to say, again, that it won't work if there is some setting to make it work. But out of the box, not so much. The max size reported in the owner's manual is: 2592 x 1944 (which gives you a fully filled screen) The pixel size
  13. I'll have to look when I get home tonight...the image is on my computer at home, and I cannot remember the correct dimension. The max dimension horizontal, is correct in the owner's manual, I can remember that much, but the vertical is completely off. If you do the max H x V that is in the manual, the image will have black bars on the top and bottom like a letterboxed movie. -B-
  14. Nice! To answer that question above, the background is simple to install once you put it on the SD card and load it on the Z. The hardest part was figuring out the CORRECT size of the image, which is completely mis-stated in the user manual. It is huge, in order get it fill the screen. I'll post it later, with the correct pixel dimension so if you guys decide to make other files, you'll have the right dimensions. -B-
