  1. Image quality is pretty good, despite the colors being off. Green=purple. I sent it back and the second one was the same way. The grid is built in on the camera w/o any adjustment so I had to turn off the Pioneer grid. You can "adjust" the grid by tilting the camera before you lock id down via a set allen screw. Night time is pretty good because of the 10 IR led's on the unit. Looks like a spotlight in the camera at night. I wired mine hot to the ignition so that if I wanted I can monitor the camera w/o being in reverse. My last radio a JVC was easy to do this. The Pioneer has a
  2. I have the 4000. I know there is no way to know since these are so new. I was just wondering in general how these screens help up being removed a lot.
  3. I went with this one, which is ok as long as you like purple trees http://www.amazon.com/TaoTronics®-TT-CC17-Waterproof-License-Distance/dp/B0092YMZJY/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1399957966&sr=8-4&keywords=back+up+camera
  4. I've never had a pioneer with a detachable face. My worry is that it would wear it out. How well does it hold up if you remove it often?
  5. I think when in app mode, like running waze or something, when you adjust the volume, you will see tabs and an app volume control on the right. This allows you to select the audio source. So you can do HD radio while running an app. It's odd though that you also seem to have to turn the app volume all the way down because it doesn't seem to switch the app volume off like it does the HD radio. For example, if you're running iHeartradio app, you have to turn the app volume down, which appears on the right as a volume up/down push button, then select the HD radio tab for example to select
  6. I just used a normally closed push button hidden under the dash. Simple tap when I need it. Most of the time I don't. I used this one from Radio Shack http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062540
  7. It works but it's very temperamental. Mostly mental! Sounds like you have an issue with your HDMI cable or something. That has to work for app mode.
  8. I have a 4000NEX. I just replaced a JVC that a neighbor broke when he threw a rock through my rear window and it hit my HU. I guess I was lucky in a way, because now I'll be able to have Car Play. I actually replaced it with a Clarion 400nx with navi. Then a couple days later Pioneer made the announcement of Car Play. So out came the Clarion for a return and I ordered the 4000NEX. I also added a panel mount HDMI to go along side of my panel mount USB. My truck is a 2001 Silverado, so I had to do the 2003-and up dash swap to go from 1.5 din to double din. Glad I did the
  9. Exactly, just like another video input selection for the camera. My JVC and Clarion had it. It's kind of odd that it doesn't. I really don't understand the point of the "Camera View Set On" feature.
  10. Thanks for the info. I'm finding app mode to be quite glitchy. Moving around apps causes the radio to lose connection to the pioneer appradio app. I'm really just waiting for car play now. For anyone else searching Waze not working, there is a "Control Waze from car unit" mode that has to be turned on in the Waze app settings menu.
  11. I just installed my 4000NEX a few minutes ago. This is my first Pioneer in 25 years. I have my backup camera working just fine. Auto switches when I go in reverse, etc. What I'm looking for is a way to turn on the backup camera while driving. I tow a trailer and would like to look at it. I don't see a way to activate a menu item for it. I see "Camera View set to ON", seems to literally leave the entire radio on the rear camera. I must be missing something because this seems to be an odd behavior. Is there a way to get a rear camera menu item to switch in and out of? I'm a li
