  1. I use an Amazon Firestick as the HDMI input on my 8000. It's not an Android stick, but the theory is the same. For power, it's plugged into a USB port that's in the center console, so everything remains out of sight. The Firestick remote is wireless, so I can control it while it stays hidden. Works great.
  2. The parking guidelines that are displayed by the NEX unit are only for the rear camera. As such, if you use a forward facing camera, the NEX does not overlay any guidelines. If you get a camera such as the CrimeStopper SV-6922.LM.II (not pushing that one, just using it as an example) you can cut the wire to disable the guidelines that are superimposed by the camera itself.
  3. I prefer smaller cameras and so I've used the CrimeStopper SV-6922.LM.II as both front and rear cameras. Even though it does not have IR LED's, both the nighttime and daytime images are pretty good. They are more expensive than other options, but they're well made (metal construction instead of plastic) and configurable with or without guidelines and either normal or reverse image.
  4. I usually tap into it wires using your option 3. Done properly, this has worked for me for a lot of years without issue in a plethora of vehicles. The splice-type connectors, on the other hand, seem to invariably come loose and fail over time. Besides, depending on where you are able to tap the VSS wire, soldering may or may not even be practical. I installed a NEX-8000 in an older CR-V recently where the only place to get at the VSS wire was in the PCM behind the glove box. I was able to access about 2 inches of the wire while upside down, looking up at it, and (basically) standing on my
  5. My 8000 does the same thing when CarPlay is enabled.
  6. I have the 8000, but I don't believe there's any difference in this area. I connect my iPhone 6 via USB daily and stream audio (mostly via the SiriusXM) app. Just plug the iPhone in, then go to the AV source an select the appropriate USB1 or USB2 source that you've plugged your iPhone into. I have CarPlay disabled (I don't like it) in the Smartphone setup options, but I don't think that's necessary.
  7. Hmm...why it did not occur to me to do this, I don't know... I plugged into the amp with my iPhone and an RCA adapter and get...nothing. Apparently, this is an amp issue, not a radio one. Which, I guess is good news.
  8. So, I'm wondering if I got a bum unit or if I'm completely missing something... I recently installed a factory-new 8000NEX in my 2012 Mustang and cannot get my subwoofer to work. This is not a factory sub, so all the wiring is my own and it's not a harness problem (I.E., harness not powering the factory sub, etc.) I have the remote wire going to the amp, and the amp is powering on (power light comes on). I also have the RCA cables plugged into the outputs on the back of the unit and going to the amp. I'm using (what I believe are) the two subwoofer RCA jacks just below the backup camer
  9. I also have a 2007 Solstice and put in a 940. It fit with both a Sirius unit and traffic antenna without real issues. I won't lie, it is tight, but it's all in there and the dash is put back together. I also got the remote adapter from PAC Audio (SWI-RC) so the steering wheel controls work. Took a few times to get it to program, but it works well.
