Hey guys,

New here. How hard is it to install an Avic D1 in a 2007 Maxima? I have the parts (harnesses, din kit, etc...). Just wondering if it's pretty much simple plug/connect or is there any modifying/advanced wiring that needs to be done. Also, how do you get the stock head unit out? I'm having trouble finding anyone that knows anything about 07 Maximas (including professional installers) but noticed some people here have installed navi's in their 07 Maximas. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I don't remember having to do anything funky on the new max, but then again all cars seem to run together in my mind any more. To get your stock radio out read this.

Saves me having to type a lot.

Thanks alot! This really helps. Is the wiring pretty straightforward or do you need to be an electrician to figure it out? Also, where'd you stick the GPS antenna in your Maxima?

Wirings pretty straight forward. Nothing special. normally I put gps antennas on the dash by the windsheild. And I don't own a maxima.

Thanks again man. Finally installed my Avic....it was waaayyy easier than I thought it would be. I don't know why so many installers I went to were intimidated by working on an 07 Max, it's pretty much just plug and play.

Now my next question....the guy I bought it from didn't include a Navi DVD, so now my screen is just white and says "insert appropriate disc", or something like that. Occassionally, a map will appear (don't know how) like my Navi's working, it'll track my car and have all the right streets, but parts of the map will be blanked out blue. Also, this unit was already bypassed, so occassionally a message will appear saying something like it's dangerous to drive while viewing. Is this all normal? Will this all be fixed when I get the Navi DVD?

Nevermind. The DVD was in, it was a burnt copy and so scratched up the unit didn't even recognize it. Hopefully a new DVD works.
