Hey Everyone,

Just finished installing the D3 in my gf's car and everything seems to be working fine except the GPS. Grant you I haven't really played around with the settings of the gps a whole lot, going to read the user manual tonight and try to fix the issues I am having. There are two issues, first it is a little off in the tracking it will show me a couple of streets away instead of where I really am and second my sat signal is really crappy I get MAX 3 satellites and they all fluctuate between yellow and red.

Two things you guys should know about my setup is that I still haven't hooked up the VSS yet, got tired last night, going to do it soon, hoping that will resolve the accuracy issue. As for the sat signal I have the antenna on the front dash pointing straight up. I live in Montreal, Quebec don't know if that has any effect.

Any help you guys can give would be greatly appreciated.

Also about the VSS, I have asked here on this forum and looked elsewhere for the location of the VSS and I am still not sure about where it is. I was told I could get it from my Cruise Control Module but I don't have one. The car is a 1999 Civic Hatchback , it has all standard equipment with A/C and is Automatic. If anyone could help me out that would be great. I have had a few people suggest I could get the VSS signal from a sensor on the Transmission?

Thanks

Once you hook up the VSS it should start putting you back where you are. Also try moving the GPS you could be to close to the XM you got. They wont pick up to good on the dash either! Mine would drop out when I was out in the middle of no where with no trees around! I stuck it on the roof and BAM! full!

I was kind of hoping to avoid putting the Antenna on the roof, is it really that bad to put it on the dash, and btw I don't have an XM antenna?? Also I was reading on this forum and noticed a lot of people say that using the supplied metal pad makes a big difference, is this true? I didn't use it yet, I wanted to make sure it was in a location where I would get a good signal before I stick the metal pad somewhere.

Thanks

On most cars you can sit the antenna up at the front of the dashboard and get plenty of satellite signal. In fact, many people install them INSIDE the dashboard with no problems. As long as they aren't being blocked by any of the car's metal, it should be fine. The GPS signal seems to have no problem finding it's way through glass and plastic, at least most of the time.

That is what i was thinking considering most people on here stuff their antenna in the dash lol.

Also I forgot to mention in the navi settings menu the excessive vibration note comes up after i start driving a little. I checked all the screws and everything seems to be secure???

Thanks

The ride on a bone stock honda shouldn't be rough enough to cause the vibration warning to come up. I've got an 01 Prelude with a REALLY stiff suspension and I've never seen that notice once. There's got to be something loose in there, or maybe the unit has something loose inside of it?
