I just finished installing my Z2 in a 2003 Volkswagen Psssat and everything works but the navigation. I have it bypassed and an av cable running from my ipod to the back. The radio, ipod, dvd are all working perfectly, but I can't get the gps to see any satellites at all. I originally had the antenna under the dash but moved it to the roof when I got no signal. I've reset, unplugged and plugged back in, I've driven around to get a clear view of the sky, and I can't manage to get anything. Any help would really be appreciated. Thanks.
Z2 Not Receiving GPS Satellite Signal
Anybody have any ideas? I'm going to call Pioneer because I still haven't been able to get anything...I don't think I missed anything installing it, but I could be wrong. I haven't had time to work on it lately and the weather has been too cold to be tearing apart the dash, so I'm just using it as a way to play my iPod in the car, but nothing else. My brother owns an installation company and I tried his suggestions. I'm just hoping that I don't have to replace the whole unit...an antenna wouldn't be too bad to replace, but I hope that its not the connection on the unit itself. Again, thanks, for any help, I've gotten a lot of useful information from this forum and I appreciate all the people who are on here that give out advice.
Has the GPS worked ever?
You say you had the antenna under dash before but movet it to the roof when you got no signal. Did you ever get any signal?
Where in the roof is the antenna mounted? Inside or outside the car. Any metal between the sky and the antenna will stop the signal from reaching the antenna. I have even heard that some car that have treads for heating built in to the front window dont get any reseption or very poor respetions on top of the dash and inside the car, even if it was close to the window.
Try putting the GPS antenna outside and on the top of the roof of your car. It has a magnetic foot so it should stay there.
And also try to check the plug from the GPS antenna lead if it is correctly secured in to its socket. Pressed all the way in until the little latch give a little "click".
If all this is fine, then check for damage on the GPS antenna cable.
Otherwise conntact your dealer.
Thanks for the response. It has never worked. When I put it on the roof I still had my dash apart but the unit was completely in and I was trying to find a place where the antenna would work. When I wasn't getting any signal I opened the sun roof and put the antenna on the roof just to see if it would work and got nothing still. I have unplugged the antenna and plugged it back in with the click. I have reset, unplugged the power from the unit completely then plugged it back in and got nothin, not even one satellite. It says "cannot position due to hardware" when I check the connections screen. I'm about to call Pioneer, I just thought I would check here first. I will let you know what Pioneer says in case anybody else has this problem.
The guy at Pioneer was amazed that a pop-up came up saying that it can't position due to hardware and his only recommendation was to send it out for repair or take it back to where I got it...
In case anybody was interested, got my new one installed and works great!
I AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY Z1 DID YOU HAVE TO SEND IT OUT FOR REPAIR AND IF SO HOW MUCH DID IT COST?" IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO MYSELF TO FIX IT
^^ Besides checking for the obvious, its internal (I don't know what it is specifically) but you have to send it in for repairs. ![]()
