I just installed the d3 in my 04 f150 and I was wondering if connecting the speed sensor wire and the reverse wire was really that necessary? What do they do and how much better would my unit be with them connected? Also, Where are they located in my truck?

FYI, this type of question has been discussed many times. For the D3 to work, you do not have to hook up your VSS wire. The D3 can use just satellite signals to figure out the position. Hooking up the VSS will make the GPS more accurate for the times that satellite signal is lost.

 

Also, hooking up the reverse wire is also not necessary if you do not have a back up camera. Easiest way to hook up the reverse wire tho is to just tap into the wire that goes to you reverse light.
