Forgive me for my newbie-ness and pure stupidity in car electronics but perhaps you guys can help a new guy out.

I have a Z2 arriving in the mail here in a couple of days and wanting to learn more about how everything works and become perhaps more knowledgeable in car electronics and wiring I am going to attempt the install myself after much researching and reading through AVIC411.

Anyways, I have the harness adapter for my vehicle coming from Crutchfield which I'm going to be soldering to the AVIC harness for an easy plug to the factory one. I've had no trouble dismantling my car thus far knowing how everything is supposed to go when install time arrives, but I can't unplug the the factory harness from the factory radio! I've tried pusing every little tab every which way and pulling but with no success.

I drive a 1999 Nissan Sentra XE withe the stock radio/cassette. (You can see why I'm upgrading :) ) . What am I not doing? What am I doing wrong?!?

try and pull harder :D

it has to come out

Push the tab with a flat head screw driver and pull the connector side to side.

I'll keep working on it, I'm just afraid I'm going to break the thing and have to connect everything in the car the hard way

Well, I put everything back together for now as my unit won't be here for a couple more days and my harness was delayed even more in the mail. But in the process I think I found my vehicles vss wire! So there's some good new for the day.

Now I just have to find my reverse :(

Thanks for helping the new kid! I'll keep pulling, perhaps my numb hands aren't working as I'm doing this outside in 23F.

Forgive my ignorance, but the ECU is to the right of the glove box? I don't really see anything up there unless I have to take the glove box apart to see it. However there is a big box on the floor behind the middle console between driver and passenger where sever clusters of wires seem to be heading to.

It also says 2WD LHD on top of it. Could this be it?
