DO i need to ground the mute wire in order to have sound if i am doing the bypass?

No. However, you may use that wire for the proper connection to bypass. That is, if you're not using it already for it's intended purpose. You remove the wire from it's present location and relocate it for the bypass.

I just purchased a CD that claims that no grounding is needed just updated software. I will try it when I get it and let you guys know if it works.!
