I've had this Z2 installed less than a week ago, and it played CD's and DVD's with no problem. Went to insert a CD yesterday, and it went in, but the player never started and when I press the eject button nothing happens. I'm going back to the install dealer tomorrow, but since I asked them to do a bypass - I was told that Pioneer's factory warranty is voided. Even if they figure out a way to resolve the problem, my question is this. Is this a common problem with the AVIC-Z2 and how have you guys fixed yours when this happened to you.. Or is this a fluke that doesn't hardly happen at all, and I shouldn't worry about my choice of a Pioneer AVIC-Z2 over one of the Kenwood Nav systems they were trying to sell me.

Thanks in advance..

Well, I got my Z1 the same month it came out (and recently upgraded it to a Z2). In almost two years I've probably dropped in a few hundred cd's (some retail, many burned) and not once has this happened to me. Was it a retail or burned CD? You probably already know, but if it was a burned CD, it must be finalized or else it will lack a Table of Contents, which confuses/locks up most cd-players. Just a thought.

As for ejecting it, I am not aware of a manual-eject-paper-clip-hole. You could try going into the test mode...I think there's a CD section in there, but it's been so long I don't remember, nor am I near my unit to test. You just hold eject and tap reset, then release eject when it asks for a password. The password is Playlist up twice, playlist down twice, then the traffic button. I hope it helps.
