weird gps issue with d3

i had a customer with a 2007 dodge ram 3500 come back with his d3 saying that his turn by turn voice promts were not working, and that the auto reroute was not working either. I checked to make sure that the voice prompts were on, and i reset the unit by the reset button on the front, and then i unplugged the unit for several minutes.... still no dice. same nav issue kept happenning with everything i tried. and whats weird is that before and after i reset the unit it kept coming up with the origional opening message for shop demo display each time you went to the nav screen. the unit was recieving the full amount of satillites. I called pioneer and they had told me that if the e-brake is on that the nav will not work??..bs... i told them that that cant be true because my d3 does not have a problem and its bypassed. and they didnt know that its posssible to bypass the d3.

after i tried all possibilities that i could think of... i swaped out the d3 with a new one and sure enough there was not a problem at all. everything functioned properly.

does anyone have an idea about what possibly could have caused this problem to occur with the no auto reroute and no turn by turn voice prompt?

thanks in advance

Had similar issue with my first D3. Everything worked except the unit would not fix my position on the street I was on. If I put in an address, it would show where the first turn would be, and would track me, but it wouldn't update to the next turn. Had Crutchfield send me a new one to switch out.
