ok, so i've had my avic d3 for awhile now, haven't had any problems with it at all until now. I drove my car for about a good 2 hours with the navi screen on, everything worked fine. I pulled over turned my car off for about 20-25 mins, and then when i went to turn on the navi again, a weird screen popped up stating that my unit is a storefront unit or something, and gives the option of running a shop demo, or starting the navi. Problem is, now my navi doesn't wanna work, and this screen pops up every time i turn it on :[ please help!

Do you lose your preset radio stations when you turn off the car?

The constant power wire could have a bad connection and it could be resetting the unit every time you kill the ignition.

no, everything is fine, i've reset it in the past and its nothing like this, nor do i lose any radio stations or any other information that was stored in it.

When i hit "navi" this screen pops up everytime it says that the unit has a storefront mode and i could play a demo, i hit the button that said ok, and it goes to the normal "warning" screen just like when you first start it up. And now the navi doesn't want to work either

i just had a similar issue with the store front screen popping up on a customers car. also with my scenario the unit didnt even announce turn by turn directions.i tried everything i could think of, resetting, unplugging, rewireing.... nothing... I ended up swapping the unit for a new one and bingo... problem solved.

damn, looks like i got screwed over then, nothing i can do i guess, i bought my unit online and this was awhile ago

Here's everything about that in the manual:

It says "Do not touch Shop Demo"... maybe you should not hit OK and leave it alone. It might clear off and not come back up?

thank you! i couldn't find my manual so i appreciate that you posted it up! Ok so i tired everything, i unplugged the battery for a couple minutes, i reset the navi screen, and reset the whole unit. It still came back on, when i started everything but i drove my car for a lil and the navi still works and everything. Then i turned my car off and started it again and it was gone, not sure what happened there, nor am i sure if it'll come back again or anything but its gone for now

From what I gathered from that very limited explanation in the manual there, upon initial startup that message comes up. If it is being used as a store display model, you hit the OK button and it goes into demo mode or whatever, and the message pops up again the next time it is powered up. If it's not being used as a store display model, you don't hit the OK button and it will go away and not come back.

Seems like the most logical explanation of how it works from what I gathered.
