hey guys. i had a d3 installed in my gti last week at tweeter and they told me they did the bypass. when i turn the car on, a message comes up about improper connection of the parking break... i dont need the parking break up to set destinations or watcha a movie, but as soon as i start moving i cant set destinations any more and the video goes off the screen for dvd's. i brought it back today and they checked it and said everything should be working good and they dont know whats wrong. the only suggestion they had was that maybe the new models have an extra sensor that prevent the bypass from working... can anyone help me out here? thanks alot

They did they bypass wrong. thats it. There is no new "extra sensor". Don't let them BS you because they did it wrong.

Go to one of the topics that explain how to do the bypass, maybe even one with a diagram. Now, what I would do is ask them what they did to bypass the unit. When they skip a part of the bypass, you can tell them "WTH" and tell them how to do the bypass correctly and tell them that you get paid $20 per second of your technical advice!

Mine does the exact same thing. I also get the message about the improper brake connection. What I'm thinking is that they grounded the parking brake wire, but not the mute wire. This is probably the cause, right?

ok. so i just went outside and reset the unit and everything was working great. i drove around for 5 mins with a dvd playing and i was able to set destinations while driving. so then i took the dvd out and put the nav cd back in and the warning about the parking break came up and i couldnt set destinations. so i put the dvd back in and i couldnt watch it anymore... WTH?? apparently everythings set up right if it WAS working. what happened????

Your bypass is done wrong. Take it to someone who knows what they are doing
