after reading all the problems that everyone has been having with the d3 and the new ipod classics i have been looking on ebay for a 5th gen. ipod as my current ipod cannot store videos. does the 5th gen. ipod have to be on a certain firmware like the ipod classics? or does the 5th gen. ipod work just fine on any firmware? thanks.
Any of the 5 or 5.5 gen ipods will work fine.
I got my 5.5 gen ipod off of apple`s refurb section site and it works great.

You have to jump on it if you find one there though. The more times I check, the more times I see that they don't have any.

I picked up an extra 80g ipod 5th Gen as soon as I heard the reports about the Classics & D3. Found it new at Guitar Center's online store of all places for $229.00 with free shipping. Not as cheap as a refurb though.
