Is Vehicle Dynamics mode garbage?

Or did I just not set something up right? My apologies, I'm a noob and can't find my user's manual for the life of me, and I did a search on here. I installed my D3 in my '03 Z06 a few months ago (it was a lot of fun making a double din fit into a "1.5" GM din, lemme tell you) and didn't get to really try out the Vehicle Dynamics mode until recently up in the N. Georgia mountains. I THOUGHT I remember reading something about being able to calibrate the unit, but I'm not so sure, and hey, what better place than this forum to find out? (I've been lurking here for quite a while, educating myself about these awesome units). I don't go crazy up in the mountains, I drive very smoothly, limiting my g-forces to around .7-.8 due to inconsistent road surfaces and tire temperatures according to my Passport G-Timer GT2 (which by the way I tested and calibrated against some high-end equipment courtesy of a buddy who works for Michelin. The GT2's, once set up right, are pretty darn accurate if anyone's wondering, and they are insanely cheap on eBay.) Part of the reason I bought the D3 was to replace the ugly GT2 on my windshield. I didn't expect it to be as accurate as the GT2 and certainly not the high-end equipment, but I was hoping it would be at least reasonably close. Anyways, whenever I'd pull just .6-.7 G's, the D3 would skyrocket to over 1G! Braking and acceleration G's the same thing. Waaaaaaaay off. Is there an actual gyroscopic sensor(s) in the unit, or does it just guesstimate this stuff using your GPS position and basic math? Is there anything I can do, or should I just rip it out and throw it in the dumpster?Just kidding, the rest of the unit is awesome! And if anything, the wild G-swings would make me look like a much better (or nuttier) driver than I really am to my passengers, lol. Thanks in advance, and many thanks to those who post on here regularly so people like me can enjoy these fantastic units!

The unit uses internal gyroscopes to measure g-forces. Unfortunately, they're not all that accurate as they were only really designed to be used for the GPS navigation. The G meters on the display are just kinda for fun, really. Probably just a little something extra to do with the gyro information Pioneer thought would be cool to add in. Once your vehicle's 3D calibration mode finishes, the info might become more precise, but I'm not really sure.
