I've installed my AVIC-Z1 in my H2... AFTER cutting out tons of the dash in order to get a flush mount!! UGh. The metra dash kit (99-2003) that i used didn't really work well at all! I was able to use the mounting tabs that screw onto the side of the avic, but the trim ring from Metra was too small and would not allow the unit to open and close...

Anyone else experienced this problem? Now I am at the hard part... I have it mounted in the vehicle, BUT there is no trim ring and I am not sure what to do.. I want this to look really good and clean, but can't seem to find any help or suggestions!?!? ahhhhhh

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

I ran into the same problem w/ the metra kit. The opening is to small for the Z1. In the last three H2's I've had to cut out the opening in the kit. The best way I found to do this was to score the back of the kit w/ a razer knife and bend the kit on that line to break off the edge. The edge will not be very smooth, but you can place the thin trim ring that comes w/ the Z1 over the kit. Place a dab of glue on the kit, then place the trim ring around the radio making sure to center it. Putting the radio bezel back on will hold the trim ring in place until the glue dries. Work like a charm and looks great! Best kit # BKGMK422 fits the Z1 the best.

I've been using the Best Kits (American International) BKGMK422 without problems....
