when i choose the "artist" tab on the ipod menu interface, it displays the atists in my ipod in alphabetical order

but......................................

when it lists them it repeats some of the artists names and divides their songs into the multiple names. this is annoying because i have to search through numerous same artists names to find the song

i made sure the artists names are spelled correctly but it still does this.

its not the ipod because it doesnt do that when im listening to the ipod alone or on the computer

I would check to make sure the artists' names are exactly the same. Likely it is just capitalization. From itunes, select all the tracks from one of these artists and change the name on all of them at once. That way you can be sure they are all exactly the same. I would be surprised if that doesn't fix your problem, but if it doesn't, you could always erase and retransfer all your songs to your ipod.

Check itunes and the actual ipod itself see if it does it in there as well. Chances are, it does. Ad it's probably because of what he said above. Make sure the artist names are exactly the same and it should merge them all together.

in my first entry i stated that all my artist names were spelled the same with no differences but ill check again......

i would hate to have to re transfer all my songs

Try reformatting the ipod, then re-uploading the library to it.

I honestly can't think of a reason whay that would be happening, though.
