Hi everybody,

I've been reading up on my problem and exhausted every option on the threads, so i've done my homework, but i need help..!!

So i have a 2005 GMC Sierra 2500HD Duramax, i've had my D3 installed for 3 weeks now and everything works great except for the vehicle speed under the vehicle dynamics. the message says "this feature is not available now." and the distance bar on the 3-D calibration has no bars. i've reset the unit and still nothing. the sensor is in "sensor initializing" mode and has been that way since i've installed the unit.

I have my VSS wire to what i believe is hooked up correctly. I have done numerous diag's on it, under the hardware i've looked at the pulse and it does go up as i drive and beeps, readings will go up past 50 pulses.. so i'm not sure if that is normal.

i tapped into the yellow/black wire in the PCM. i was thinking about re-checking the connections etc., but before i pull everything apart again i just want to get any opinions.

AND... is it necessary for the VSS wire to be connected in order to have the speed and distance reading to work? because i know that this option usually works off of the GPS antenna, similar to any TOM TOM or similar. That speed is from GPS, not the vehicle.

Please let me know what it could be.. i appreciate any help i could get. i've contacted pioneer (they know nothing BTW) no help what so ever.. they basically hung up on me.. i was actually telling them what to do LOL..

How far have you actually driven the vehicle. Where'd you get yellow/black as vss. Every GM Truck of that yeaar I've ever done the vss is green/black either at the radio harness or at the gauge cluster.

With a proper vss connection and gps lock on at least 3 sats. After 3miles of driving the learning status should change from sensor initializing to 3d hybrid.

Without a proper vss connection, but with gps lock on 3 sats, the learning statuse will change from sensor initializing to simple hybrid.

Once either of those have taken place it takes anywhere from 5 to 100 miles before the speedometer gauge will become availible. Some of the vehicle dynamics gauges ARE NOT availible without a proper vss connection.

Honestly i thought i looked the VSS wire up on the 12volt.com website to be yellow/black. and like i said i hooked it up and it seemed to have been working because i did get pulses. but i could try your suggestion and go with the green./black.

and secondly by saying locked at 3 sats, your talking about the several bars towards the right hand side of the connection screen right? your not talking about the signal bars similar to a cell phone..? and to be locked do they need to be a certain color?

green/ white @ the inst cluster--pin A4, if the factory radio had speed sound compensation it should also be @ the radio harness.

GM started using yellow/ black in 2007 I believe and the best place to pick it up is @ the abs mod under the truck, dr side next to the gas tank. I have found it also @ the junction block near the e brake. ( I know you don't need to know this part but someone else might)
