Alright, new to these forums, and VERY new to the Avic/GPS units in general but I have been checking things out for a while. Got my Avic D3, problems so far with the GPS, but hopefully getting those sorted at the installers this weekend, as I guessing the VSS wasn’t hooked up.

I do have a couple of questions I couldn’t find answers to after searching, so any help would be appreciated.

First, how many satellites do you guys usually have lit up on your D3?

Second, does Pioneer do any type of updates to the D3, where down the road I would be able to use the latest Gen Ipod for video, or should I buy a Gen 5 while the getting is good?

Thanks!

1. 7 to 8 sats

2. I would just get the 5.5 gen while they are available. Its an Apple problem, not Pioneers fault

7 to 8 light up for you? I guess Im going to have to move the Antenna from under the dash to over it. I had this installed in my 92 Legend Coupe, and I generally only see about 4 or 5. Might have somthing to do with why my GSP cant seem to keep up with me at ALL.

So no updates for the Avic D3s. Oh well. Found a 5.0 locally for 150 bucks, but its a 30 gig. I really dont want to spend the money, as my wife already has a 80 gig that we have been using for music, but its brand new so I get video sound, but it dosent play on screen.

I might still pick it up, we will see.

Thanks guys! Anyone else with how many Sats you get?

Thats where I want mine as wel. However until I get around to having the sterio re wired, Ill probally just put it on the dahs, and move it when the time comes.

Im a little annoyed I cant get away with it under the dash, but thats life I guess.
