I have installed the new v2 few days ago, havent put the dash back up, the gps antenna is on the long metal bar under the dash. I do get the 6 or 7 sat orange, and location is very acurate, no questions about that, few inches off, that is all, but at the signal meter, like cell phone tower thing, about 90% of time i dont get any signal, every now and then i get a bar or 2, what you guys thing. how many bar should it have?

and my system came with version 2.000 for maps, is there a recent version for it, because my street is not on it, if there is more current version, where can i find one?

when i did the bypass, the cd image file with 30mb, that was already updated in my system, so that didnt take update, the deck said, the update is already done. so i just bypass, and it worked.

Newer systems do not need the 30mb update....Just ground the 2 wires and you're home free...

I don't think there is any map updates...or at least freebie ones...Although I've seen some GPS looking files in some of the updates, which could be Pioneer sneaking small GPS updates in...dunno?

There are updates for the CD database, and another update for a freezing issue in earlier models....

go into your harware info>service menu...the CDDB version should read

07-01-0030

and if you touchand hold the top left corner of the screen in that menu for a couple of seconds, you should see your HDD app version read

[edit] it also looks like they may have snuck a little update in there just recently....they are showing Platform version 2.000500 for the update...I'll have to check mine out...?

2 Bars on the sig menu sound about right. As long as you have 3-4 orange satellite icons, you should be good to go...

but as fas as signal bar, i have no signal most of the time, every now and then i will get a bar or 2, but 8 out 6 or 7 always orange though, so no signal is okay then?

yeah, nobody seems to know for sure how those bars are calculated. Mine seem to bounce all over the place too, from 0 to 3, both when I had my antenna on the roof, and now that I have it on the dash with the metal plate underneath, all the while with at least 6 satellites locked-on (orange). Perhaps it's not actually a reading of signal (since that would be redundant as it's right next to the sat icons) but rather of DOP

Thanks for replying to my questions, i think i will put everything back together now, since it is working, but still like to understand one more issue.

I have hooked up power and ILL, so at night when i turned the light on, it goes to night vision, and dimm the screen, and i believe that is how it is suppose to work.

so the question is about the dimmer wire. i believe that there was a a wire for dimmer, and i connect that to my dinner wire in harness, and when i move the dimmer knob, all the dash light will dim as you move the knob, but not in z2 anymore, so did i do it right, and this dont work with z2?

I have search the forum, but all they talk about is dimming the screen, but i have that already working good. thanks
