GPS Accuracy

Hello, new d3 owner here and i DO love the unit, regardless of its few shortcomings.

Ive read and searched topics about the vss wire (and reverse signal) and i realize it doesnt HAVE to be connected. Fine, i didnt connect cause i dont want to go behind my cluster. My question is, does the vss wire add THAT MUCH more accuracy to the gps? When i set my home as the destination, it will tell me i have arrived at my destination four or five houses away. Thats fine, cause i know where i live. What about when im gonig to a house I DONT know? It will also tell me i have arrived at my destination in places like before ive even reached a parking lot to a restaurant.... a traffic light away from a hotel. I can put up with it cause i realize i need time to bring the vehicle to a stop or crawl. But is this common, or will the vss wire add pin point accuracy to my otherwise beautiful head unit??

I was also wondering if running without the vss wire, then hooking it up later (couple months) will have any ill affect on the 'learning' process of the system...???

Thanks for any feedback.

It won't make it perfect but it greatly helped when I hooked mine up. I did mine a few months after the original install. I hooked it up, reset all three hybrid settings, and it worked much better

Great to know! How did you reset all three settings? Im only aware of the one manual reset button on the unit itself.

Also, were you experiencing the same accuracy issues as i am before you connected the vss? Did it correct the problem?

There's two ways to reset the unit (using the same reset button) One, where you hit the reset button while the power is OFF, just resets the nav systemand a couple other little things if it's buggy, and the other, where you hit the reset button with the power ON, which totally resets the unit to the state it was when new.

Yes, it definitely helped. You can reset the learning in the hardware info screen under 3D calibration. There are three things you can clear, can't remember what each of them say without it in front of me though

Ok great. I read about the resets in the manual (one with power on, and one with power off) I thought maybe there was another way used by pio techs or something.

I think ill hook up that vss wire in a few months when i pick up the bluetooth module.
