I installed my D3 over the weekend and love it....i have a problem though...my reception for the radio is horrible??? I have an 2008 Xterra which has a rectangular grey plug for the antenna??? i bought the correct harness from a local shop that plugs into the grey rectangular antenna connection and makes it too a normal aftermarket stereo male looking plug that plugs into the D3! great...

but the D3 has a solid blue wire that has a tag that says ANTENNA CONTROL....but the X has NO WHERE to hook that up and im guessing that has to be why im getting horrible reception???

anyone else have this problem?

ANY HELP would be appreciated.

thanks,

You car most likely has a powered antenna booster. That blue wire from the AVIC needs to connect to it. The the adapter harness that lets you plug the AVIC into your factory radio harness should have a wire for it on it somewhere...

There is nothing left on the aftermarket wire adapter harness but a blue/white strip wire---that one is the amp turn on right???

im guessing my Xterra does have a powered antenna somwhere i just dont know where too hook up the blue wire coming out of the D3.

U know what? that got me thinking....im gonna check on the Xterra side/factory connection to see if all the wires coming from the xterra correspond with a wire to the aftermarket wire harness.........

im guessing one is left out on the aftermarket wire harness that is the xterra's powered antenna on??

but then again why would the aftermarket wire harness not have that wire there??

Hook the AVIC's antenna power wire to the blue/white wire on the adapter harness.

Is that all i need to do??? i thought the blue white wire was amp on???

it'll work

If the speakers in your car are working without that wire hooked up, your car doesn't have a factory amp. So that would leave that wire to be the antenna power wire.

Hey, thank you so much...ill try hooking that up and ill report back if it works....

thanks so much..

forgot to post back, but turns out the antenna wire was pushed in the D3 just fine, but the antenna adapter wire itself was loose on the end fitting, had to tape it up really good and make sure it was all pushed together well.

everything works great..

thanks,
