hi peps

i own TJ's audio in newport R.I

i am having a problem in a job today

i did the by pass with moving the yellow and black to the pin above it and grounded it with the e brake wire and that worked fine ,,

but i am having problems with

when the navigation is on and the radio is on in the background after a little time (no any amount of time ) but the audio for the radio cuts off and he only way i can get it back on is unplug power and replug it back in and then hitting the reset button.

now here is the stanger part ,if i plug the ipod i hear music as well as well as if i put a movie in (mean ing that the internal amp is still working and i can here the dings from pushing the touch screen ,

it is acting like when it goes it to the interupting talk mode for directions it freezes up the audio source on the radio and never resets back to radio .

is there something to do with the jumper wire being grounded feeding back ,

someone was telling me about some diod thing , any clues out there ??? .

i got the bypass y/b wire unpluged for now we are going to try to see if it still shuts off audio with it not being bypassed ,,

The bypass has absolutely nothing to do with your problem. The cell mute wire, doesn't do anything "when the navigation is on and the radio is on in the background after a little time (no any amount of time )."

Does the vehicle you put it in have amps or use the power ant or remote turn on wire for the factory amp?

no it has no amp its a 03 ford explorer . with basic radio no amps , no power ant , no factory subs , the customer has been testing things for me ,

i undid the bypass , undid the vss wire , just to eliminate those , but he has called me 2 times ..

he can lissen to cds for 15 . 20 min with no issues . then he puts on radio on it will play for 3 to 5 mins then he will hear a small pop (the internal amp shuts off ) no audio and signal strenth loses all strenth . but red sterio light stays on ,,but no signal strenth .. :?:

if he hits the source buttom again it will play the cd ,ipod but no sound on radio ,

if he lets cd play for about 10 mins and then go back to radio , the audio will be back on , its acting like there is a problem with the tuner (cold solder joint ,bad foil ) and after it heats up ,, then when it cools off it will work and rest .. hehe

i am thinking it is something i just got to order another one ,, :(

i did not think it was the bypass but never know ,, :D

at least the customer is a friend and cool about it , he loves the unit tho,, i like it also ,

has anyone used the rebate on it for $200????

oh 1 more thing , is there a way to not have to have the nav cd in when putting in a new destination not have it in memory mode .???/

thanks guys for the fast response and keeping things in the aftermarket world alive,

put another d3 in and worked fine , it was the tuner in radio.
