Has anyone tried this?

Connecting a CD-UB100 to a Z1/2? Pioneer's site doesn't show it compatible...but the instruction manual for the CD-UB100 does show it compatible and how to use it. For no more money than it is, it may be worth a try. I believe it will allow you to hook up anything that your pc recognizes as a drive.

Heh, I just answered this the other day...

While it's not listed as specifically compatible with the Z2 on the site, the Z1/Z2 is listed in the compatible devices (Group 4) page 11 in the instruction manual. Group 4 devices have full control via touch-screen.

Still, I haven't connected one personally, so take it with a grain of salt. I've heard the interface is pretty bad.

Thanks inferno. I'm going to give it a whirl and see how it works. The cost is reasonable.

Awesome. Let us know how it works / how the interface is. Maybe a picture even! I'm still on the fence about picking one up (mainly for the annoyance of having to install it and get back in there AGAIN. )

Got it up and running. I'm using a flash drive with it. I still need to play around with it, but it looks like a bust to me. No interface whatsoever. It does play the mp3's just fine...but it seems to just play them in order and only shows what's playing. And it only shows about 8 letters or so of what's playing. It really misses the boat. I'll continue to play with it and see if I can find a way to make it work out a little better.

Works nice on the N4. I think it should just say its not backwards compatible with older models

I would say a software update would make it very usable. Maybe there isn't a need for this any longer so Pioneer isn't devoting any resources to it. But I'm not about to go out and spend a couple of hundred bucks on an iPod to use in the iPod adapter, so this really fit my needs. I guess the whole world has iPods, eh?
