hello guys, i just bought a car equipped with the Pioneer Z1 unit with the XM radio and XM Traffic control.

owner told me it has been paid for, for the year so subscription should be good.

my question is, it doesn't seem like it has ever worked... the car i bought is from CALIFORNIA and i have brought it back to Las Vegas, NEVADA.

since being back here, i have ran into traffic, accidents and what not and it didn't even register on the Z1 map/nav!

the previous owner said you didn't have to do anything, it would work automatically...

anyone have any idea what could be the issue? thanks in advance!

i should have posted this in XM traffic/radio section (MODS- sorry i overlooked it and posted this so fast)! i dont know if you can move it there?

i guess the XM traffic DOES work... i was on the road today and there was a sign on the map that said construction or merging on the freeway and that was accurate. but this was the first time it picked up anything good.. it does say

traffic

on the top right corner on the map...

go to refresh.xmradio.com and put in the XM Serial # found on Channel Zero of you Z1 sat radio. It will send a refresh signal to your unit incase some sort of glitch happened. thats a start to troubleshoot with.

If you're seeing accidents, but not flow data, that's because:

NavTraffic FAQ[/url]":ksjduans]

Flow data is only available where road speed sensors exist (varies city-by-city). This information is gathered from both state government agencies as well as from private companies. As the technology involved with traffic monitoring improves, so will the availability and accuracy of the data.

You might want to check the NavTraffic Coverage page for more details.

I didnt even think to look. Inferno is 100% correct. Las vegas only gets incident updates, not traffic flow. Check the coverage area map for Las Vegas here:

damn it!! well thanks guys for the heads up and looking into it for me. being the largest growing city you'd think they would have traffic flow and every other feature for traffic.... oh well, hopefully they add that soon.

what's the difference between incident reports and traffic flow anyway? traffic flow i take it is just up to date reports on traffic through out. also it would show the different colored roads (red for bad traffic, yellow for slow and green for normal)?

Incidents are accidents, construction, etc. Traffic flow is how fast traffic is flowing
