AVIC-D2 - Bypass Issue After CNDV-70MTP Upgrade

Hi,

I have an AVIC-D2 and have upgraded the maps via the CNDV-70MTP upgrade disc (East). The parking brake bypass in my car worked fine prior to this, but post-upgrade, I get the warning that the parking brake is hooked up improperly. FYI - everything except the parking brake bypass works without issue.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Did you check that a wire/connection didn't come lose or something?

Also try resetting the deck. Sometimes that helps

Yeah, checked the connection to ground with a voltmeter and it was okay. Is there a way to fully reset the unit? I'm only seeing the way to reset to default settings.

Thanks

The little ballpoint pen sized hole on the front

Thanks, I'll try that. I'm still not sure why this is happening though. I have the parking brake wire from the AVIC soldered to the ground wire of my car, so I'm not sure why the warning is occurring.

What have you to lose with a reset?

Posted Mar 23, 2008 · 22:48 UTC#8

Hi,

I'm still having an issue with this. I haven't seemed to have found anyone having a similar issue, as the only cause for change that I can determine is the DVD upgrade. I've verified that the parking brake is properly grounded and I've also reset the unit. Should I try downgrading to see if it works okay with the old version? If so, can anyone please point me to the steps in doing so? Also, if anyone has any other suggestions, please let me know. FYI - the exact error message is "system detected improper connection of parking brake lead," which displays as soon as the unit receives power.

Thanks.

Have you confirmed that the pin on the wire you moved is making solid contact with the deck when its plugged in?

Yes, I verified that there is proper contact on all ends via a voltmeter.

Anyone have any ideas? I'm pretty much at a loss here. I can't think of anything else to try, short of the downgrade, which I'm not sure how to perform. Are there any other things that could be causing it? I find it difficult to believe that the upgrade caused issues with the parking brake bypass, but you never know.

Thanks.

Is it the actual CNDV-70MTP disk, or is it a burned copy?

Have you found a fix? I'm getting ready to run with the new discs and this isue makes me a bit hesitant...

^ I'm guessing he was using a burned copy of an update disk and it turned out to be a bad disk. An original copy of the update disk shouldn't cause this to happen.

What are you basing that guess on?

Original disc. Still no luck...

Thanks all for the tips though.

I'll go you one better, I'd guess he never moved that extra wire. If I understand correctly, in the early D1's you could get by with only grounding the parking brake wire. The update probably enabled the GPS/VSS thing that you have to bypass with the service mode wire (moving the phone mute wire to the empty power pin.) Something in his answers made me think he didn't understand the question when someone asked if the wire he moved was still connected at both ends.

Hello Guys,

I'm a noob to the site.. I have similar problem. Everything was working fine with the bypass on my d2 but I was given a copy cndv-70mtp upgrade and now I get same error about the parking brake. Could it be it the upgrade or something else.. If I put the old original disc will it chance or fix it?..

Thank you ..
