Is there a trick to (carefully) force open a totally unresponsive screen?

New member and apologies for the probably stupid question, but I did search...

The screen of my AVIC-8000 is completely unresponsive; screen is black, no screen or button presses work, but I know the unit is on and functional (music plays when I connect my phone).  I think it's a simple matter of the ribbon connector losing connection behind the faceplate.  In fact I'm pretty certain that's the issue and I caused it.  I can just get the screen open I can reconnect the ribbon.

So, can the screen by forceably pried out?  Any tips?  Grip or pry points?  Power from the car on or off?  Can I do this while the unit is still in the dash?  Any help greatly appreciated.

Did you ever figure this out?

And was it the cable? Where did you get the replacement cable?
