Changing order of albums in Music Library

Hi all.. I have ripped about 20 CD's into the Music Library. Some are by the same artist, but there are other albums that I ripped inbetween. Is there any way that I can rearrange the order of the albums in Music Library to keep the same artists together?

And if there isn't a way to rearrange the order on this hard drive, like you can do on any other hard drive (computer) - this seems to be a major shortcoming in my opinion.

Sure is!

In the library, tap Search, Albums, hit the "Edit" icon (looks like a page), then hit Sort Playlists.

Sure thing. Now, if only I could find a way to update all my "unknown albums" automatically after doing a gracenote update. ... One at a time just isn't worth it to me.

How do you update the album name for an unknown? It seems that I don't have the option when in Album/edit.

Similar process:

In the library, tap Search, Albums, select the album, hit the "up folder" icon, hit the "Edit" icon (looks like a page), then select "title."

The trick is there's no way to select an album without also entering it. Going up a folder leaves the album selected in the album list, then you can edit it.

Inferno...if your drive was unlocked, could you do your editing by mounting it to your pc and making all your changes there?

I haven't tried. I'd think it's possible, but not worth it.

AFAIK, The album order (and all other library parameters) is stored in an/many index file(s). It shouldn't be too hard to capture these files before and after making a change and analyze the index. Depending on how complex the index file(s) are, you may or may not be able to recognize and emulate the change.

Thing is, it's already easy enough to reorder albums using the Z1/Z2 interface, so I don't really see much benefit in trying to hack the index. Feel free to give it a try though!

What I would rather spend time on is trying to come up with an interface for the USB adapter. My God that's pitiful. Such potential going to waste.
