No Sound & Power Stays On

I'm in the process of installing a avic-d3 in my 04 pontiac grand prix. I bought the metra gmos-04 harness. I soldered all the wires according to the instructions and am having the following problems.

- The D3 always stays powered on, even when the car is off. This is a wiring issue I know, but I can't see which wire is causing the problem. I was thinking the red wire which is the ignition wire. I have it currently connected to the ACC wire from the D3.

- I get absolutely no sound from the speakers. I have the RCA's hooked up to the Front and Rear outputs, but still am not getting any sound. I'm thinking wiring issue again, possible with the blue/white wire which is the amp control wire...

I'm lost and would like some direction if anyone can help me. I have searched, but haven't found my answer. thanks guys...

Also, just want to add in that the following wires from the D3 I do not have connected to anything.

I realize that these are for speakers, but I do not know where to connect them. I have the RCA outputs hooked up to the metra gmos04 wiring harness and figured that would send signal to the speakers.

The wires you've listed drive the speakers if you DO NOT have an amp. RCA is for if you do have an amp. If you connect RCA directly to the speakers with no amp, there will not be enough power to drive the speakers.

As for your On/Off issue issue, check voltage on the red and yellow wires. Yellow should be hot all the time, red only when the car is on.

I realize now the problem with the RCA's. Coming from the harness, there is eight wires,

Purple

These wires all go into RCA's. So I have four RCA's (white, purple, green, and grey). I plugged them into the Front / Rear Output RCA's thinking that was what I needed to do to hook the speakers up which I know realize is wrong.

I have eight more wires coming from the harness that came with the Avic-D3, same colors, currently not hooked up to anything which is obviously why I am not getting sound. I am wondering how do I connect them to the GMOS04 harness... Do I cut off those four RCA's and use those wires and just solder them to the wires coming from the D3 harness?

That's one way. Or if you don't want to cut your harness, cut up a couple RCA cables and solder the heads on to your Head Unit outputs.

This is what I did... I cut off the RCA cables that were coming from the GMOS04 harness and then I took the speaker wires coming from the black harness that comes with the D3 and soldered them to the wires that I got from cutting the RCA's off. Hooked it up and still no audio? Any other idea's what I may be doing wrong.

Obviously all of your connections into the headunit and into the Metra/GMOS unit are solid? Did you do the bypass? Did you move the MUTE wire from the pioneer connector? From what I've read over the past couple days is that if you DON'T move the MUTE wire you will be muted all the time.

Yes I did the bypass and yes I moved the mute wire...

For the blue wire (antenna power), where do I solder it?

Maybe this helps you guys understand my problem a bit... I don't have the brown wire which is supposed to be connected to the mute wire connected as well as the

1. Connect the yellow wire to the radio’s 12V battery or memory wire.

Yes, did that

2. Connect the red wire to the radio’s ignition or accessory wire.

Yes, did that

3. Connect the black wire to the radio’s ground wire.

Yes, did that

4. Connect the orange wire to the radio’s illumination wire. If the wire is not present, tape up wire.

Connected the orange wire to the Orange/White wire from the D3 harness which is labelled "ILL"

5. Connect the orange/white wire to the radio’s dimmer wire. If the wire is not present, tape up wire

Didn't connect this to anything, don't see a dimmer wire to connect it to

1. Connect the blue/white wire to the radio’s AMP turn-on wire.

Connected to the blue/white wire from the D3 harness which is labelled "power amp"

2. Connect the red wire to the radio’s Igniton or accessory wire.

Connected to red wire on D3 harness which is labelled "electric terminal controlled by ignition switch (12 V DC)

3. Connect the RCA cables to the radio’s RCA outputs. If no RCA outputs are

available, use the Metra line output converter part #ALO-648 (SOLD SEPARATELY).

4. The white RCA goes to the left front RCA output of the radio.

5. The gray RCA goes to the front right RCA output of the radio.

6. The green RCA goes to the left rear RCA output of the radio.

7. The purple RCA goes to the right rear RCA output of the radio

Done

The following wires on the 14 pin harness are for the aftermarket radios that have navigation

built in:

1. Connect the Brown wire to the mute wire of the aftermarket radio.

Not hooked up to anything. I don't have it hooked up to anything because I did the video bypass so I was under the impression just to tape it up

2. Connect the Green wire to the parking brake wire of the aftermarket radio. (Unless you did the AVIC bypass)

I did the bypass

3. Connect the Blue/Pink wire to the VSS or speed sense wire of the aftermarket radio.

Not connected

4. Connect the Green/Purple wire to the reverse wire of the aftermarket radio.

Not connected

Also, I do not have the "auto-antenna relay control terminal" connected to anything. Should it be? Also should the brown wire be tapped into the mute wire?

If anyone can help me out I'd appreciate it...
