i hear about this "firmware" thing.

what is it, how can i get it, will it be available for d3, and how much does it usually cost

and

what are the odds that pioneer will issue a firmware update to the d3 that will allow album art on the ipod interface like the btf500 that came out in ces this year?

maybe even rds, ( i know im pushing it but eh......)

The firmware people are referring to is on the ipod itself, not the D3. There haven't been any updates to the D3

i hear about it on the z1 and z2

Thats because Pioneer released firmware updates on the Z1 and Z2. You can get them on their website if you own one

ok...im back on this horse.

when and if pioneer issues a firmware update for the d3...what is it capable of updating?

does it add new features to the d3 or what?

No. On previous models like the N and Z series, it fixed bugs. Like the bluetooth echo problem and the overheating problem. Didn't add anything

So that means that when the new d4 comes out with album artwork, birdseye nav, etc...i wont be able to update my d3 to have some of those features huh?

just buy a d4 if i want it that bad?

I would love to have the 3D birds eye map view. Would there be anyway to hack/update/mod the D3 to get that feature?
