Hello all, I just joined today but have been planning on buying one of these for awhile. I purchased my '03 Acura TL-S almost a year ago specifically without Navi with intention of adding one of these double din units. I was on the fence about this or a Car PC for awhile then narrowed it down to a double din unit and could not decide between the DNX-7100 or this. Well needless to say I have decided on one of these. Now on to my two questions...

1. I am aware there is an upgrade for Z1 -> Z2. What are the consequences if any for this upgrade or is the only difference between a Z2 and a Z1 upgraded to a Z2 that your unit says "Z1" instead of "Z2"? Wow thats a lot of Zs, hope it makes sense...

2. Part of the reason I was indifferent about the Car PC is because I have TONS (+50GBs) of music all neatly organized on my home network and I wanted to utilize this digital reservoir. I know I can buy an iPod and put it in the glove box (which is what I'm leaning towards now). But since it is possible to upgrade the HD in the Zs to one with more capacity and load it onto the internal HD?

I guess the two questions work with each other, if there are no consequences for the upgrade and I can put music onto the HD and still search/navigate them easily, I will purchase one of the upgrades on eBay with the 80GB HD on it.

Your advice is greatly appreciated in advance and part of the reason for me choosing Pioneer's unit besides being a long time Pioneer car audio fan was because of this forum (there is none for the Kenwood) plus I own their 50" Plasma and LOVE IT!

Thanks again guys!

1. The Z1/2 are the same but the Z2 has newer maps and POI info.

2. You can put a bigger HDD in it and expand the music partition but you are limited on how many albums/artists so 50 gig wouldn't be realistic. There are extensive threads on this in the hacks/mods section
