Any of you ever have your navtraffic go into an updating mode? Mine started doing this a few days back, and hasnt stopped. Its not like I havnt put enough time in for something to happen. In the last few days Ive driven 600 miles, and it just stays in updating mode.

Thoughts????

Ill answer my own question, as I figured it out!

XM Customer service is staffed by absolute morons....
I have never had such a run around in 4 or 5 phone calls over the last few months. They truly have no idea what they are doing, and every time you get an answer... its a different one!

Bottom line... The NavTraffic had 'expired'... even tho I was on a subscription! When the NavTraffic unit is looking for a signal that doesnt beam down, it goes into the 'UPDATING' mode indefinitely.

Geeeesh. My experiences with Sirius customer service have been a zillion percent better. Unfortunately its XM that has NavTraffic.

i wonder if sirius will be coming out with this service soon, imho xm sucks and all the content and good programming is on sirius, but the navteq feature is really enough to pay for both subscriptions, hopefully sirius kicks in.

From what Ive read... Sirius has signed the doc with the boys at NavTraffic. I think they have a unit on the market with Alpine. I'm sure the rest of the radio mfgrs will climb on board with what Sirius brings to the table, but Im sure legacy systems like the Z1 will just have to get by with what we have.

I have an S50, and now I find out that as of the latest and greatest new products, Sirius has a universal adapter. That leaves all the rest of us out... as is usual for early adopters.

:-) Thats ok... Love the Z1!!! And quite frankly, while I agree Sirius has much better content... XM still has Dylan and MLB. Dylan is worth the $12 a month all by himself!

yes, the updating msg and only one channel working is what xm does when the bill doesnt get paid. Found that out this morning when I called they said my cc didnt process and can i give them another #, so i gave them the same one they had and they got it working shortly aftwords.

Though xm is the nav traffic provider for the moment, and for the z1 ONLY, I will be canceling xm, and nav traffic in the morning since the traffic info is rarely useful. I mean, I have used it in the L.A. area and changed my route at the suggestion of the nav traffic only to find I am in just as bad a position as if I had stayed with original route. I mean it has been nice to know miles ahead that the traffic is flowing XX mph but since I would not change the route anymore it just doesnt make sense to keep it.

Nice way to wake up a dead thread :) FYI, NavTraffic is NOT only for the Z1. I have it running on the N3 right now, and works flawlessly here in NYC, where real traffic is :)

Welp, thanks for beating me up. lol... actually a few weeks isnt too dead.. is it? and I didnt mean that xm nav traffic works on only the z1, it does work on the n3, and in fact works on the d2. What was meant was that xm has the only nav traffic feature (equipment) for the z1... hence why i said "xm is the nav traffic provider and for the z1 only" since there is no other nav traffic provider for the z1. btw, it does work.. no quams about that, but to reroute to an as "trafficy" area is just lame.

Sorry buddy I didn't mean to come off as sounding harsh. I was actually trying to be playful.
