I don't understand how to get this working....

Can some please post steps how it works??

When I put in a route, should it tell me right away about the traffic?

or

if there are slow downs or an accident will it tell me right away??

Do I have to do something?

Between the owners manual and http://www.xmradio.com/navtraffic/ all your questions should be answered

I guess my major questions is, How to I tell it to check automatically, and tell me if there is any issues?

First understand that it takes time for Nav Traffic data to stream to your receiver. If you start your car and plot a destination right away, it simply won't know about events yet. They sort of trickle in fir the first few minutes.

Even still, NavTraffic data doesn't affect the initial routing process. You have to plot a route first, and accept it. THEN, once you're driving, it'll pop up and say traffic events detected on route, would you like to reroute / detour, etc.

Hope that helps.
