Touch Screen not responding at inital startup.... help!

I have the Z1 and am getting ready to upgrade the hd to the Z2, but the touch screen does not respond during initial startup. Is this the "Lock-up" or "Freezing" issue and will the new firmware update help?

This occurs only when I start the car after not having driven it for a day or 2. It seems to work fine when I've driven it around and restart within an hour or two. I know people have problems with their units freezing, but my unit is operational, so I don't know if it's the "Freezing" issue. The XM, iPod etc works because I can change the channels by hitting the blue buttons on the console, but not the Nav because I can't press the "OK" button for the warning message.

I know NYC is cold these days, but I can't believe that that's the problem. It seems to take 10-15 mins for the unit to warm up before the touch screen starts working. By then I've already pulled half the hair out of my head and have to constrain myself from putting my fist through the system. Any ideas what's wrong?

Have you tried taking of your thick gloves when operating the touchpanel? :)

Otherwise I have no idea what the problem is.

Is the problem there only when the car is cold? Have you tried parking in a garage/parking house that is heated/warm? To see if the trouble is that the unit has to be on for some time or if it is the temperature in the car that make this problem.

We have not had that cold weather over here yet, only down to -5degree celcius. And my unit has worked fine all the time, whatever the temperature is.

Lol. It's definitely not cause I'm wearing thick gloves, but maybe I should because I'm ready to put my fist through the screen.

I installed my new hard drive with the Z2 image yesterday. I was hoping that the touch screen issue would be resolved, but it's still not responding at initial startup half the time. I never had that issue before last winter. Maybe I'm going to call Pioneer. Man I'm f*cking annoyed!
