I just purchased the Z2 and I wnat to know if the BT was any better than in the Z1 unit that my brother has? He had to buy the Parrott.

Z1 had a bluetooth "echo-fix" update come out for it a while ago. As far everyone knows, the Z2 has this already integrated and there have been no further changes or updates. Aside from that, Pioneer has not announced any changes, bug-fixes, or improvements in bluetooth since and there's no "bluetooth version" that you can check on either the Z1 or Z2.

Short answer - they're the same if you applied the exho fix update to the Z1.
