I have an older XM Commander Sat Radio. Will my reciever hook into the D3.

On the connector where you connect the contoller it says "Controller/ Head Unit"

You could if you could find an old pioneer ip-bus interface box. They haven't been made in a few years, so i doubt it. If you did, the functions would be limited, and the display would not have the logos on it. My advice would be to buy the pioneer XM tuner- GEX-P910XM- and transfer your service. You will be glad you did.

I had this same unit and like marc said, you need more parts. After hearing the limitations on the terk/universal XM tuners I found a Pioneer GEX-p920XM on eBay (refurb) for $55 and bought a 3-year squaretrade warranty for $7 more.

Best part is that the refurb tuner is still activated so I'm not paying for my service atm.

If you want navTraffic functionality, you need the 910 as marc suggests. I misread the compatibility of the 910 vs. 920, but even after the fact, I don't think I would have bought the 910 b/c I doubt that I'd ever use the traffic function. Don't know how the prices compare on the two.
