How do I know that I've installed the VSS correctly??

I've just installed a D3 in my sis's 4runner and an N2 in my express van. I didn't install the vss at first in the toyo so the map was at a weird angle. Did a little research here, opened her up and wired the vss. It was working better and now a week later, it's off again. How do I know if I installed the vss correctly? What is the Hardware Info for? All the speed, 3d caliberation, etc.? How long should it caliberate for?

My N2 in my express van seems to be running fine at the moment. The speed is filling up, left/right turns slowly doing the same, but my 3d calib isn't moving, why?

I feel stupid asking all these questions and I have done my research. Similar questions have been post but not exact. Thanks in advance...

Go into the NAV menu and look in the SYSTEM settings. It will show you the vss signal as well as how many satellites you are picking up.

The VSS should 'beep' in the connection status screen while in motion. It will speed up in frequency the faster you go

Audibly beep? I've never heard that. :?

Yep. Probably wouldn't have noticed unless you were driving around with the connection status screen pulled up

^^ and only on the D (and maybe N) series. Z series is silent here.

He did start his post by indicating it was a D3 he installed. (best evil voice) We don't need no stinking Z info here. lol j/k

^^ sure sure, just pointing it out for those that might read this, assume it's true for ALL AVIC's, and can't figure out why theirs isn't beeping (like i did a couple years ago ;) ).

No beep here, and while I'm driving, I see no speed pulse count either. Now I wonder if the VSS is actually hooked to anything through the GMOS chime adapter. :?

I remember seeing a speed pulse count before, but in the screen where it shows P-brake, illumination, and install position status, I get 0 for "Speed Pulse"

However, I know the reverse wire is hooked up through that module b/c when I switch from drive to reverse, the reverse signal status indicator switches from "Low" to "High"

And no beep, either, from what I can tell.

Well if the speed puls readout stays at zero and doesn't beep when driving, I'd say it's not recieving the VSS signal.

However, under the calibration screen, it has a speed pulse count. :?

Anyway, maybe I should contact CF and see what they say about the VSS and the Axxess GMOS kit. thanks for the input.

The number on the VSS readout on the calibration screen is just a running total of the VSS signal it has received in it's lifetime. My guess is for the week that everything was working right the unit was recieving a VSS signal and that number was increasing, but now it's not getting a signal any more. Most likely either a wire came loose or the GMOS unit is messing up.
