my first 2 cds i played on my z2, they ripped to the hard drive automaticly. are cds supposed to due this i put in a third disc and it didn't happen.

It comes with the factory default set it to do it automatically, but you can change it to manual

If you didn't change anything, my guess is your 3rd cd was in a format that won't rip...such as wma's or mp3's you had burned.

i had a similar question too.. when it is finished ripping, can it be played without the CD? where can you get access to the ripped songs?

Yes, of course! You find them in the Library (one of the audio sources).
