Hey all.... I finally broke down and bought a backup camera for my D3. I have no real need for it what so ever, however, they looked like fun so I got one. Anyway, I bought a Boyo 420 (thanks for the tips by the way...amazon was the way to go) and was wondering if there is any other place besides the license plate frame to mount it? Would there be any advantage or disadvantage to mounting it higher up, say beneath the cargo frame on the top of the car? Just curious is all.....any feedback is appreciated as always!!!
O' Where to mount......the backup cam
I'm thinking the farther down the better. Because if there's a little 5 year old girl sitting on her tricycle behind your car, if the camera is mounted too high it might not pick her up in it's field of vision. And voluntary or accidental, vehicular manslaughter is kinda frowned upon. ![]()
Despite the sarcasim, that is a very good point..... LOL
Everything he says is, sarcastic in one way or another. Just gotta get used to it. ![]()
I think HiFi gives great info and he probably gets sick of the same questions (most can be answered by using the search BTW).
Nah... I just have a generally abrasive and sadistic sense of humor...
Ok....... ![]()
I have a Kenwood backup cam connected to my D3 and it works great. I am really glad I got it as it makes backing up into awkward areas so much easier.
I have it mounted right above the license plate, where it has a full view of the entire width of the car, right down to the ground. So basically, there can be something lying on the pavement and I'll see it. My recommendation is that you position it where you can also see the ground. These things have a much greater viewing area than you think.
