I have a Z2 that was installed by Circuit City in my 08 scion tc.

I burned the .ISO file and loaded it into the Z2. I already grounded the parking brake but I'm stuck on the second wire. I read this page here:

but my harness looks nothing like that. I was wondering if I hook it up to the pink "Car Speed Signal Input" wire??

Here's a pick of my harness and what I'm talking about:

First off, if Circuit City did not connect the pink wire on your unit, TAKE IT BACK TO THEM AND INSIST IT IS CONNECTED! A Scion TC is not a very difficult car to work on, and the VSS on that car is no different. This will provide the unit with more accurate speed indications.

Second, if you don't have the harness in the spot labled "Harness 2", then while you are at Circuit City, insist they give it to you. It comes packaged with the unit, you bought the unit, so all of the parts that come with it are YOURS!

All together, you should have 5 items plugged into the back of the Z2 at a minimum. The main harness, harness 1, harness 2, the AM/FM antenna, and the GPS antenna. If you have the Buetooth unit or XM or anything else, then you will have more.

Once you have all of your parts, follow the directions AS LISTED and your Z2 will be bypassed. Hundreds have done it before you, and most have done it without any problems. The one's who did have problems, did not follow the instructions.

I see effen why! I don't even have a harness in "Connector 2". Circuit City is closed today so I'm guessing I will have to wait till tomorrow. I actually work there but not in the install bay. I even paid Circuit City to do it and I get a shitty install. Plus they broke my damn sliding door that hides the headunit. Knowing them, they probably won't even find the harness that came in my box. Will any other harness fit in my Z2 from any other Pioneer nav unit? I could easily open up a new one, take the harness out and label the unit "Defective" and send it back to pioneer through the store.

Thanks for your help man. That page looked crazy to me since I didn't have that connector.

You sure they didn't just leave the connector in the box?

Yeah, it was in the box. There's a long purple wire in there also but let's get to that later... So............ I take the Mute wire (yellow/black) completely out from the harness (connector 1) and plug it into the bottom right corner of the connector 2?

Correct, there are pics in the thread that is "stickied" at the top of the page if it will help. Then you ground that wire you moved, and the light green parking brake wire

Done. Test drove around the block a few times and everything went well!

Do you know where I can find that VSS wire for the Speed?? I'd rather do it myself if I can.. I searched on a couple of tC forums but I found nothing. I guess I'll post up it in scionlife if you don't know. One more thing.. you know what that long purple/white wire with the fuse holder at the end is for?

Thanks man.. I really appreciate your help. Worked like a charm

Purple wire is an extension for hooking up the reverse wire. Not sure where the VSS is on that car, someone else on here might have a database they can look at
