Hi All I'm a newbie here but appreciate all the effort and information. I've all the bypass threads but cant find a answer to my problem. I installed the unit (a D3)and did the bypass myself and all works well, I can watch video and use the nav while driving but I have no sound for all inputs! Not sre what I did wrong. Checked all my connections and the mute pin placement and condition and all looks good. Please advise. Thanks

The bypass wouldn't effect that one bit.

Do you use external amps for your speakers or the D3's speaker outputs? Is there a factory installed amplifier you're interfacing with or not?

No not using anything but the D3. I also found that there is no output (sound) via the head phone jack either. I tried system reset and noting changed. Really stumped now.

what kind of car is this in? output headphone jack????? the front jack is a input.... not output. if your factory radio uses a external factory amp. that may be where your problem lies... either need to use a amp turn on or bypass the factory amp

Ah yes an input I just read that in the manual and feel dumb. Its in a 2004 honda element.

i would suggest making sure u didnt ground the mute wire, while its still in the mute wire location.

I did this by accident. I was installing a PS2, and when I took the unit out the wire came loose and I put it in the wrong spot.

Turns out the blue wire that is for the power antennae is also the power for the preamp. So I took off the tape and wired it up and BINGO all is good and I love the flexibility of the unit. Thanks for the help and also Crutchfield with their awesome tech support.

Not exactly... the blue wire on the power harness is for the car's power antenna or antenna booster. It is only powered up when the AM/FM radio is the selected audio source, although there is an option to change it to constant power in the settings menu.

The blue wire on the RCA/preout harness is the wire that should be used to turn on any amplifiers.
