Ok so i installed the radio and did the bypass, for some reason it wont let me play dvd's or video. It just says cant play video play back while in motion. It is in a 2003 Subaru wrx. the parking brake wire and then mute wire are both grounded with vampire clamps to the ground on the wire harness. I also flipped the mute wire as well. Anyone have any idea????
D3 wont play video
Make sure all your connections are solid and that the pin you moved is seated all the way in the new spot
im positive everything is solid. Is there a better spot on a 03 subi that anyone knows about to ground everything to? im thinking of just running the parking brake wire and mute wire straight to the negative on the battery. Do you guys think this could be a bad ground?
nvm on the negative on the battery. i just realized thats a bad idea..
Any other ideas?
Buy a pack of these:

You can get them at any hardware store for under $5 a pack.
Crimp one on the mute wire, one on the parking brake wire, and one on the ground wire.
Then find a screw or bolt in the vicinity of the D3 that goes directly into the metal of the car's body, and attach all 3 to it.
And also make absolutely sure the relocated mute wire pin is seated securely in the correct pin location.
If you do all that, the bypass is guaranteed to work, or if it doesn't you have a faulty unit.
yes sir. i picked some up on the way home from work. right now ive got the glove box ripped off f my subie, and there is plenty of bare steel to connect to. i'll take some pics to give you guys a better idea. if the pin isnt staying completely in how would someone fix that? i think mine is fine. just wondering.
If it just won't stay in there, you could hold it as far in there as you can and put a drop or two if super glue in behind it. Just make sure not to let it drip down into the pin or the pin on the D3 won't be able to slide inside of it.
alright so i took off the dash and on the passenger side by the ecu there was plenty of bare metal. I grounded all the wires to there own spot and now it works perfectly. i love it. I even installed my blue tooth last night too. anyone know which wire is the reverse wire? i thought i had it right when i connected it on the tail light but im not sure..
Put the car in reverse, then go back and note which bulbs in the tail lamps are light up white... those are the reverse bulbs. Tap the reverse signal wire onto the power wires going to one of those bulbs.
gotchya, i guess i will have to wait till my roomate gets home so he can tell me which one it is
You don't need a 2nd guy. Just put the parking brake on and put the car in reverse. The motor doesn't have to be running, just to have the key in the on position.
